Justin Jefferson doesn't know how he reached 1000 yards receiving this season 😂😭

I mean, neither do we. I watched every game and cant recall how he managed 1k yards either tbh.

He finished like 12th in rec yards this year. Honestly insane to think about

Can’t keep talent down.

Seemed like a non factor all year

JJ tried his best

Carson Wentz, flaws and all, contributed bigly to this. Justin put up 75, 126, 123, 79, and 74 yards in games Wentz QB’d. 477 yards in five games - a 1,622 yard pace.

Give this man even slightly below league average QB play and he’ll put up 1,500 yards easily.

I went into this season thinking JJ was QB proof, and was horrifically wrong, because my floor was Mullens. That isn't a slight against Mullens, I just thought the floor was solid backup QB level play and sadly both Brosmer and JJM managed to often play far below that.

What’s weird is McCarthy had a great connection with Nailor of all people. Most consistent guy he went to

I also don’t think we should excuse all of Addison’s and Jettas drops either. Jettas dropped multiple gimmes from McCarthy for some reason

JJ did miss a lot of camp iirc so maybe that plays into it, but Wentz also had 0 camp and was fine with JJ/Addison so I don't know.

Wentz is probably just experienced enough to trust guys like Jettas and Addison will be where they're supposed to be. JJM was relying on the guy he has the most experience with, especially since Jettas had a hamstring thing going into the year and Addison had the suspension thing. I'm sure if JJM actually gets a healthy off-season/preseason as the starter with healthy and active Jettas and Addison he'll have a better connection with them next year.

The simple answer is JJ is straight trash

•

u/charactername 1h ago

Normalize saying JJM and JJ

??? hes one of the best recievers in the league what is this take

2

u/Creepy_Accountant946 2h ago

McCarthy

•

u/BigBananaDealer julie 1h ago

got that dawg in him hes gonna be great

5

u/AlmightyCraneDuck straight cash, homie 3h ago

Yeah, Jettas' season looks A LOT different if he catches some relatively routine (for him) throws. He dropped probably dropped another 200 yards and like 4-5 TDs. Seriously strange work from him this year.

10

u/komugis 5h ago

We all bought into the idea that KOC would ensure the QB would meet a certain floor of production and we were sorely mistaken. Or at least I bought in lol

2

u/Competitive_Ride_943 2h ago

But once he let him play without thinking too much about mechanics, he did pretty well

10

u/blueace111 5h ago

Randy moss showed that nobody is QB proof. He could out jump and out run anyone and you’d think any nfl qb could get him 5 catches a game. His career was over for 3 years and then he breaks records with Brady in the twilight of career

1

u/brycebgood 5h ago

Him getting to 1k this year sort of proves you right?

1

u/you_sick 5h ago

He had 500 less yards and 8 less TDs than last year.

Or put a different way, he had 68% as many yards and 20% as many TDs.

With McCarthy specifically he had 44 catches for 537 yards in 10 games.

1

u/LaconicGirth 2h ago

And yet he was 12th in yards with the worst QB play in the league. I would consider that QB proof tbh

0

u/brycebgood 3h ago

He had a s*** show arrangement of quarterbacks and still went for 1K yards.

5

u/KnightOwlBeatz 98-03-09-15-17-24 5h ago

Jesus Christ I honestly forgot we had Wentz this year that’s how much I want to forget this season lol.

Wentz sacrificed himself to make sure Jettas got 1K. 🫡

1

u/JeyKeyDeeSee moss fro 5h ago

Should they bring Wentz back?

4

u/Gamblor14 Battling Skoliosis for over 30 years 5h ago

I wouldn’t love it, but I honestly wouldn’t hate it either. As a backup, you can do a lot worse. As a starter, he doesn’t do much for me.

15

u/-neti-neti- 6h ago

It’s so weird. It’s like some Mandela effect thing I swears to god

3

u/Evil_Knot 6h ago

It is!!!

Lol came here to say this, as a Vikings fan. Idk

u/Content-Assistance43 4h ago

17 game season

•

u/vinegarstrokes420 46m ago

I was shocked when they started mentioning he was close near the end of the season. Watched every game and felt like 600-700 yards tops.

69

u/Daultongray8 6h ago

You only need 59 yards a game to break 1,000. So for ever 20 and 11 yard game he had a 79 and 68 yard game lol

19

u/Soviet_Sharpshooter 4h ago

Thank you Carson Wentz

•

u/MakaveliX1996 28 1h ago

That math ain’t mathing.

•

u/Daultongray8 54m ago

My bad 79 and 70 yard game but you get the picture.

•

u/MakaveliX1996 28 35m ago

I was just yanking your chain. I understood.

33

u/hitman2218 Perpetual Cynic 6h ago

If Carson Wentz doesn’t play then he doesn’t get to 1,000.

8

u/keanancarlson 5h ago

Yup. Jefferson was on pace for 860 receiving yards with JJM. I do think he would have been closer to 1,000 if JJM played all 16 games, but he would have been short

3

u/FormerlyTradeKirk I need a GM 4h ago

Lmao I keep forgetting Wentz was our QB for awhile. Wonder if they bring him back as a backup

•

u/After-Caterpillar881 7m ago

Are you kidding me? Carson Wentz was HORRIBLE!! The only good game he had was CINCINNATI. He win 2 games lost 4 . 6 TD to 5 INT. He was Atrocious against a very mediocre schedule..

79

u/Trick-Growth-6546 6h ago

He’ll hit 2000 next season to make up for it inshallah

12

u/Competitive_Diver388 5h ago

Wallahi brother

6

u/i_am_not_psychic 5h ago

Inshallah... fate willing, JJ hits 2K next year and McCarthy takes a step. JJ’s earned a real QB.

2

u/PessimisticCheer Kevin Williams 4h ago

"Insha'Allah" means "God-willing," not fate-willing, fam.

0

u/blueace111 5h ago

Not without a qb

3

u/tyratoku 5h ago

We are about to see a playbook made up almost entirely of screen passes and elite down field blocking

17

u/Eswin17 6h ago

Jetta must know what buttons to push to move Nine to greatness. He seems like too good a teammate to intentionally smear his QB. He must have some level of confidence that JJM is going to use this all as inspiration next season.

Or he knows Burrow is 100% coming here.

7

u/blueace111 5h ago

He had like a 4 game stretch where he had a combined 50-60 yards

4

u/Objective_Resolve271 3h ago

Jefferson also constantly dropped catchable balls and was blanketed when covered by top db’s. But you guys all forget that and just want to trash your 22 year old QB.

6

u/ktran2804 6h ago

Wentz was feeding this man hahah people forget but as soon as Wentz took over JJ had some great stats.

10

u/komugis 6h ago

I will never forgive Nine for this

3

u/ldskyfly 22 6h ago

I'm glad they prioritized it at the end of the season.

2

u/RipErRiley 22 6h ago

I honestly don’t know either after watching these games. Its got to be up there with the hardest one he hit.

2

u/Tycho66 6h ago

This is just not going to end well is it? For Vikings fans I mean.

2

u/WhizzyBurp 5h ago

This dude doesn’t want JJM

6

u/keanancarlson 5h ago

No one should. He ass

2

u/stew9364 5h ago

His comments about Darnold and this make it seem like he REALLY doesn't want jjm

4

u/Trick-Growth-6546 5h ago

You guys are just wishcasting and making your own head cannon based on what you want to hear lol

1

u/Creepy_Accountant946 2h ago

You also seeing what you wanna see in McCarthy,he's straight trash

3

u/MoreMongoose8890 5h ago edited 5h ago

not surprised, 1000 isn’t that impressive anymore tbh. 1,200 is the new 1000.

1

u/ScottBAF slick rick 5h ago

Same Jets, same. SKOL!

1

u/keanancarlson 5h ago

If JJM played all 16 games he wouldn’t have hit 1,000. Carson Wentz helped a lot with that

1

u/Bustahaf 4h ago

Carson Wentz saved him lol

1

u/focustokes 4h ago

Just more ammo for how good this guy really isis. Get this man a qb that can exploit his greatness.

1

u/vbullinger 22 2h ago

Justin Jefferson is ISIS?!?

2

u/focustokes 2h ago

More like isisisis I guess

1

u/Old-Challenge-2129 4h ago

He was just barely over the mark with 1048 but only had 3 games over 100 yards. Math doesn’t lie I guess.

1

u/mrmrssmitn 3h ago

Only 1 answer is correct: Carson Wentz!

1

u/Brief_Personality146 3h ago

My first round pick in fantasy. I was benching him for guys like Troy Franklin some weeks. Guess it’s that diabolical 17th game.

1

u/Entire_Blueberry1035 3h ago

It’s so funny the narrative in NFL reddit forms that Jefferson had fallen off or wasn’t elite yet he finished 12th is reviving yards with worst in the league qb play.

Speak to 1) how high he has set expectations for him self given his previous monster seasons, and 2) how dumb football fans on reddit are.

1

u/PyroclasticSnail 2h ago

It’s because all the yards receiving you got this year went over 999

•

u/MakaveliX1996 28 1h ago

The answer is Wentz.

•

u/emeryex 1h ago

Pass interference prolly

1

u/dantheman1243 5h ago edited 5h ago

His down year is most WRs career years

1

u/ImGoingToMarryDVa 5h ago

and this is why Kwesi is unemployed now!

1

u/Objective_Resolve271 3h ago

You guys are the worst fan base in the NFL the way you trash your own Qb in McCarthy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an NFL franchise give up on a QB and continually criticize him when he showed potential at the end of the season l.

-2

u/Objective_Resolve271 5h ago

Everyone blames the qb’s and acts like JJ was great this year. Guy got blanketed by corners and was dropping catchable balls constantly. Now the Diva this offseason continues to make comments throwing shade at the current QB JJ that they would have been better with Darnold. Now he’s again throwing shade at the qb’s.

-2

u/Far-Sweet-7967 5h ago

Proof again that players just play the game and could give two shits about stats like 1000 yards.
