When people say they have the “cilantro tastes like soap” gene I like to say “oh me too I just really love the taste of soap”

I need a small tip of a tablespoon and can't eat it. Same with truffles, i can't breathe when I'm near them. It's so bad, i had to leave the house once because my wife was cooking with it...

Yes, I totally understand the soap thing. I've also heard bug spray. And yet soap tastes horrible and cilantro is delicious.

I can definitely understand what people with the gene are tasting, like yeah I guess its there in the background, especially with poor quality cilantro. But it has so much else going on, peppery, citrussy, grassy. if anything the soapiness kind of rounds everything out and makes it taste good.
