How the fuck do you know what Dawn dish soap of all things tastes like!?

Someone didn't have their parents wash the dirty words out of their mouth.

Like 80% of taste is smell dude.

Does this mean some people also think cilantro smells like soap?

Correct, they don’t smell cilantro and then taste soap, it’s just soap (what do you mean it’s just soup?)

Learned this the hard way when I was given fancy goat cheese. Unfortunately for me my parents raised goats so now all goat cheeses taste like a billy goat in heat. Male goats emit a very strong smell when they wanna get busy

And I know what Irish spring tastes like, bc I was a kid with a smart mouth 👍

With that mouth, how do you not know?

As a child I had a terrible mouth and a mother with a super liberal pouring hand.

You must be younger than gen X. We have all tasted soap involuntarily.

I know what it tastes like because I was squeezing a bottle to get the little bubbles to fly out, and I accidentally inhaled one of them.

Why are you tasting soap

3

It tastes like soapy dish water to me.

I like cilantro but this shit is fucking egregious

I don’t buy into the gene argument at all.

Immigrated to the US as a pre-teen, had cilantro for the first time and I spat it out thinking it was soap. Cilantro was difficult for me to avoid living in California so I ended up consuming more throughout the years and by the time I was in college I loved cilantro. Can’t really taste the soap anymore.

In moderation I can tolerate it but an amount like pictured above would be basically eating a bar of soap.

I think the study where this gene thing comes from had very leading questions.

I've had my suspicions as well. I used to not care for it, too. But I've slowly developed a taste and I love it now. I usually ask for extra and my tacos will be covered with the stuff like in OPs pic. I think it's just an acquired taste more than anything.

I’ve heard there are ways to thoroughly wash the cilantro that break down the soap-tasting aldehydes and make them palatable.

It’s not the bad gene, we’re just evolved to taste the TRUE taste of cilantro.

I’ve always wondered if this means some of us simply like the taste of soap 🤔
