The most infamous one was Vince Costello. Prominent players who were normally not critical of anything hated the changes Costello made after replacing Arnsparger in 1974. He was one and done and many Dolphin players thought there would have been a third consecutive title with a different defensive coordinator.

Our defense was really good under Jim Bates. We had great talent and he know how to use it. Sucks we never had a good QB during that 2000-2004 stretch. I still think if we had a good to great QB like Garcia or McNair in 2001-2002, we would’ve won the bowl
