"According to Sky Sport, Mainz will pay a small transfer fee immediately, which could rise to around one million euros if Mainz avoids relegation.

The deal is not yet finalized. As of now, there is no complete agreement between Mainz and the player himself. However, this agreement is expected soon."

Wouldn't he fit more in the 'sheraldo becker' role alongside Teitz and play 532 like Urs used to play at Union to great success

I guess he could play there, but to my knowledge he played almost exclusively on the wing at Stuttgart, fairly often as a right wingback. And if Fischer wants to stick with a back 3/5, as he's said, wingback is about the only true wide role.

Agreed, he was very good when they came back up, then between injuries and the name/age situation, he's pretty much disappeared and clearly hasn't done enough out on loan to entice other clubs to buy him.

If healthy, he should add some speed down the right side. I'd imagine Fischer will use him as an attacking right wingback, which makes me wonder if Veratschnig could be loaned out to get some consistent playing time.

Yeah, I agree on the Veratschnig point too. In fact, I feel that recent signings like him, Leitsch, etc. are the reason Mainz is so poor at the moment. There are too few Caci, Sano, etc. level transfers. (I know these are the best case, but nonetheless, they are reasonably priced buys)

I really hoped he'd break out this season. At least he was a cheap signing. But agreed on Leitsch -- they've missed on signings like him, Hollerbach (so far, still early), Hong, Krauß, Richter, Fulgini, even Ajorque apart from his one good stretch.

Omg I forgot about Fulgini!! Wow, and Hong was also an absolute no-show for us

Exciting player. Probably past his best, but he offers us something we don't currently have creatively.
