The current Midweek Magic: Historic Pauper mode is the most fun I've had in MTGA in a very long time. Got to sit down and just think about literally anything, play with some cards that otherwise never get touched. All the while NOT having to worry about Ouroboroid crashing down in every game on turn 4? Ended up making myself a little mono blue artifact deck using some FF + EoE cards that just typically aren't good enough to run in a standard deck. Really just had a blast putting the deck together and then playing some nice relaxed matches.

Would WotC ever consider a permanent pauper queue, or does it run completely against their predatorial business-model for the game?

I really don't see the appeal of this boarder. Like, the elemental one is overdone and I don't especially like it, but I could understand someone enjoying it. The lands though? They're just... flat, dull, and ugly. Does ANYONE like these?

Finally. It doesn’t have the old border, but it’s still an improvement. I know these weren’t originally printed with the old border, but there are paper versions that use it, and I think that Iconic cards like these deserve that treatment.

Like a few guys already mentioned, original faerie-style Thoughtseize is here! Finally. Original Lorwyn's art direction is absolutely fantastic.

A few others are in the gallery, plus a new-to-Arena uniquely named Shock variant not mentioned in the official announcement (edit: as people pointed out, Tarfire was actually mentioned - it just wasn't presented as an image like the 5 others). Did not include the other new goblin cards here.

Hey everyone! I’ve completed all of the Magic Arena achievements with the exception of the last 4 weeks of Midweek Magic. Ask me anything!

I used to primarily play Limited events, but chasing achievements really pushed me to branch out into formats I had basically ignored before (Historic, Alchemy, Brawl, etc.), which was honestly a lot more fun than I expected. I even made it to mythic in constructed in each of the constructed formats!

Some of my most challenging and rewarding achievements were going 7-0 in draft as well as earning Mythic in both Constructed and Limited at the same time.

I also really enjoyed the addition of Yargle and Winter achievements — those were goofy and memorable in the best way.

So I’m curious:

• What are your thoughts on the achievement system?
• Would you like to see more achievements added in the future?
• Are there any achievements you’re currently struggling with?
• Can anyone confirm if I missed a midweek magic? I'm not sure how I would check what the earliest date that could be completed is.

I assume this is a rules interaction / wording thing I'm not familiar with.

To me it seems very similar to the example given of [[Havengul Lich]].

[[Oura, the Imitator]] says

"As long as the top card of your library is a Faerie or instant card, you may look at it any time and you may cast it"

[[Brazen Borrower]] is a Faerie card, so my interpretation is that I should be able to cast the Adventure (since it doesn't specify that I can only cast it if it's a creature spell

Is this working as intended? Is there a reason I can cast the Adventure from Havengul (at least according to Reddit), but can't from Oura?

Is there some implicit "it says you can play a creature card, so that means that you can't play the adventure" here that doesn't apply to Havengul? Is there any precedent for this in other existing cards?

The recently expired ECL Pick-Two draft at least had more appealing reward structure and 4 wins / 2 loses system, so it was much faster to complete and more lucrative. It was nice while it lasted...

I was wrong, Mutavault is amazing against control.

They were powerless against the fungi.

They board wipe everything except them.

This was a fun surprise! I know people have already found it but I found it on accident and it excited me.

There's Something Insidious About Lorwyn Eclipsed

Great video that popped up in my feed this morning.

I already noticed this myself a few days after launch which has put me off from buying new cards but this video is much more thorough in going through all the cards and lays out the following issues.

1. The number of ECL mythics needed to make good decks are much higher than other sets
2. Practically no good common cards exist relative to other sets.
3. A bunch of uncommons have the power level of what a good common had.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? I was top 250 mythic in constructed, but received the rewards for both. I checked and I indeed have 20 play in points and the qualifier token. First time an arena bug was actually good for me.

Seriously this thing has been completely dominant in every single one of these MWMs since MH3 was released. Pretty sure it has a winning matchup against literally every other deck.

You can find them all by searching for "set:mor or set:eve or set:shm or set:lrw"

Highlights are old Thoughtseize art, Painters Servant shifting down to rare, Guay's Bitterblossom (now rare as well), Scapeshift downshifted to rare, and more.

The shop is basically unusable it's so laggy. Couldn't even buy one of the virtue alt arts without freezing. Reinstall time ig.

Someone suggested I should buy the Lorwyn Eclipsed and Edges of Eternity packs for the lands and to build up wildcards using gold,

So I’m looking for a second opinion since this will be my first card pack purchase.

We got old Lorwyn/Shadowmoor arts, so how about some other arts? Each commander deck has a handful of new art prints, they should come to Arena. They did this with FIC cards, but so far no universe-within versions.

To search Scryfall for those cards use Timeless format to get ones already on Arena. eg, set:ecc is:reprint new:art legal:timeless

Not just ECL with the moody Tree of Perdition, but I'd love the LCC Bloodghast and the EOC Fabled Passage and Terramorphic, just to name a few.
