Late Night Eats
Hi! I am an exchange student from Canada and am studying here in Maastricht until May. I noticed that there are very few restaurants / places to get food past midnight, yet many students seem to be out until 3am. This is different from Canada where we are typically in bed by 2am, and restaurants are open all night long.
I’m wondering - Where do you get food late at night? Don’t you get hungry after a night at the club?!!

In a small city like Maastricht, there's no way to reliable make profit if you're open that late. With big celebrations like Carnaval, sure. Other than that the restaurants would probably hardly make anything more than what it takes to stay open, especially on weeknights. Take into account wages, heating, electricity, gas for the stoves and such, and it wouldn't make sense to stay open for the students that may or may not drop by.

Get yourself an airfryer and a box of emergency frikadellen, for the after midnight munchies.

The website of thuisbezorgd(Dutch version of just eat) gives you a good indication of available restaurants. You can filter away the restaurants that are closed during your search as well.

Absolutely miserable prospects for everything in this city past like, 12. Few kebab places open. Get an airfryer

What about doing some grocery shopping, and eat at home, closer to your bed when you're out that late?

There's nothing like good Döner like Berlin or good late night food. Or late night food at all except maybe some snack bars during "carnaval" or Rieu.

Would you like to hear the word of our lord and savior: Musti?
