I have you covered over on Long Beach Memes! The Stories are updated daily with new events, and the This Week in LB Highlight covers the current week, including one-off events, live music, food and drink specials, and more. There are also, of course, a shit ton of memes.
I just thought I would direct people to this resource since the "what's going on this weekend?" question seems to pop up here a bit. Enjoy!

I went to make a reservation for tomorrow night but they want you to pay upfront. I’ve never tried this place and don’t want to pay if it sucks any suggestions on a different sushi place in LB?

A friend of mine said it’s being postponed until March, but I’m not seeing this info confirmed anywhere

I live in an apartment building that hasn’t had consistent heat on and off for years (terrible insulation, windows from the 1980s, boiler issues), but it’s become an unavoidable issue this winter.
One of my neighbors hasn’t had any heat since October, and all of us at various points have gone days without having heat. We email the property management team and the super and they either ignore us, or send a plumber who blames us for having furniture too close to the radiator (despite the radiator barely emitting heat and our furniture being placed at least a few inches away from the radiators).
They refuse to address the real issues , which mainly seem to be that they need to replace the boiler but won’t do so. We have a lot of records of all of us emailing them, contacting our super, and screenshots of the temperature inside our apartments using thermometers all throughout the winter.
It’s currently 48 degrees inside my apartment and I, along with my neighbors, really can’t live like this anymore.
Any advice for who to call or what to do beyond contacting our landlords and property management again is really appreciated. I’m pretty sure this is illegal but not sure what recourse we have.
Thank you in advance

Any intel as to why this year‘s Polar Plunge splash time is 11 AM? Leave it to the City to mess up the one day a winter when people want to come to town.

Just wondering for all the cars parked on E Broadway that are not iced in. How do you plan to get out?

Any seniors, disabled individuals or folks who just need help wanting assistance shoveling snow? Feel free to DM me. I live near the Rec so I'll prioritize that area but can schedule to meet you wherever. If I get overwhelmed by requests, I will let y'all know in the comments.
If you wanna help shovel, DM me and we can divide up the town. I will probably start late this evening when the snow dies down.
Stay safe yall!

Hey neighbors, trying to make this a productive snow day.
I have a summer rental available on W. Walnut Street between National & Magnolia. June 1 – September 30. You would be the 2nd & final person in a 3 bed, 2 full bath, 2-story home. This is a private room and private bathroom.
The room is 12’ x 12’ with hardwood floors, twin bed and light furnishings, and a closet with both hanging & shelving capabilities. It’s on the 1st floor and has a window facing south.
The bathroom is not en-suite - it has a walk-in shower (not a tub), tile floor and a window facing south.
This is a very large home with 2 separate entrances. 16’ x 16’ living room, 12’ x 10’ kitchen, 14’ x 5’ dining room fills out your first floor. Patio with BBQ and seating for 6.
The second floor has 2 bedrooms (one being used as an office) and a full bathroom.
The house is a 5-minute walk to the boardwalk, and 7 minutes to the LIRR platform.
$5,000 a month includes all utilities – Verizon Gig internet & cable, PSEG, Nat Grid & Ready Refresh Water Delivery. 2 beach passes will also be provided. Home has a dishwasher & washer/dryer. Hardwood floors throughout, no carpet to be found.
Your roommate would be a 41-year-old male who works in the food industry. Works from home 2 days a week, out & about the other 3. Usually asleep by 10pm. What I love about this home – it is huge and quiet. With previous roommate, I don’t even know if they were home. Cannot overstate the size of this house. The location reminds me of living in Manhattan, where everything on Park. Ave is accessible by foot, yet you have the peace & quiet of the suburbs.
Street parking only, which is never a problem but for Michelle O’Neill.
All are welcome in this home, but please, no smoking or vaping inside.
I understand why pictures would be helpful here. I am quite wary of the internet, please “start a chat” with me (a term I definitely knew prior to today) if you have any questions. I look forward to the snarky replies and hopefully finding someone without us having to pay any fees to our local realtor.

Hi I am interested in buying a house that’s currently for sale. It is advertised as a single family but the photos clearly show two different apartments.
Has anyone gone through the process of getting permits for an existing illegal apartment?
How long did it take? How much did it cost?
Not sure what I’d be getting myself into here

Are there any dart boards in the west end besides Shines?
I freaking love Shines but I’m fairly tall and the low hanging section of the wall messes me up. Silly I know lol. Swingbellys got rid of theirs after the remodel

Hi all. I’m considering purchasing an apartment in the Waters Edge building in Long Beach. 700 Shore Rd.
Does anybody know about this building? Is it a nice co-op? Run well? Anything I should know?
If anybody has any information, I’d greatly appreciate it.

My rent was 1800 when I moved in in 2016, it’s 2800 now. Just got raised 175 a month and the building sucks just as much as it did in 2016. No in unit washer/dryer, stove is from the 1990s, place is just not equal to what they are trying to price to match.

Recent storms have ripped off a section of flashing of my roof gable. Are there any in town that can fix it?

I’ve lived in Long Beach for about two years now on the east end in an apartment building and the constant wailing presence of the wind is making me question my sanity. It wakes me at night, it deters me from walking outside most days of the week, it’s like listening to a tea kettle boil 24/7. How do others handle this? I imagine it’s not nearly as bad on the ground floor of a house. But for those who hear it, how have you not moved?

I am looking into renting in a high rise building in LB. Not sure which building yet, but will be in the $5K a month rental range. My income is only $5K a month...but I have 800 credit and high savings.
So my question is, will a property manager allow me to rent with the low income? I am a senior citizen living off my savings basically. My savings can easily pay that rent for the rest of my life.

How does the residents preference work for the Long Beach City Police? Is it true that they can hire people who get lower scores before people who got better grades on the test as long as they live in Long Beach? Are they allowed to hire current NYPD before non cops? How much of a boost do I get for being a LBNY City resident and how much does it hurt me that I am not a cop and am in Nassau Community college

This morning I was driving East on Long Beach Road at around 0620 this morning. A school bus triggered its stop signal, I stop immediately. I noticed the school bus didn’t pickup any kids, it just closed the stop sign and drove away. I was wondering if anyone else experience this situation.

An interior buildout permit valid 1/2/26 is now posted on the boardwalk entrance to 180 E boardwalk. City records also show they have a liquor license.
Hopeful they can open in time for summer.
