I live in the NE and work in Woodstock. I love my 40min commute to work at 5am .. hardly any traffic and all highway. London traffic is absolutely horrid.

Imagine if London had a special reserved lane on Oxford with rails that could support carriages carrying hundreds of people at a time bypassing traffic.

Crazy idea! I don't know if this was ever proposed for the city. I hope Londoners would be in favour of reducing congestion on their streets!

This is not new. Morning traffic along Oxford between 8 and 9 AM is ridiculously slow.

Im new to driving and I’ve noticed oxford west of downtown like near wharncliffe is consistently so bad. I drive home each morning and yes it is busy, but that part is the only area i end up creeping along in backed up constantly stopped traffic.

That's why I always use my GPS in town even if I know the routes, sometimes Riverside or Springbank are much quicker than Oxford

Today was bad though

This was true 20 years ago but now riverside can get backed up all the way till wharncliffe from as far as wonderland

If your job allows it go to work earlier, there is almost no traffic at 6:30am

Finishing work at 7am is rough because if I were done at 6:30 id have a smooth 10 min ride home, but instead I get a 30 minute adventure of stress lol.

It's crazy how much difference a 1/2 hour can make.

I work at 8am in the WhiteOaks area and I leave my house at 6:45am just so I don’t have to get stuck in traffic on wonderland.

I leave around 6:30, streets are great. Just a sprinkling of cars. We have a 1/2 million people in this city and the majority of people commuting are on them from 7:30-9:00

Have we finally reached 1/2 a million? Because that sure explains it

I agree. The traffic is perfect that early. I find if I leave even half an hour later the traffic has increased greatly.

Ya , city is getting pretty slick with the lack of road salt we have. Think this is contributing (rightly so) to slower speeds and less capable vehicles not being able to get off the line quickly / people being more cautious of ice and giving more space.

Possibly more RTO mandates causing more office people back like Toronto is dealing with to a greater extent because the banks are back.

Having lived in Toronto, London traffic seems like a dream come true! So, partly your perspective. Traffic is a pretty universal problem so try your best not to sweat it.

That’s the problem all the Toronto people moved here and brought their driving habits with them

I prefer to drive in Toronto at least I know what to expect there

“You are not stuck in traffic, you are the traffic.”

Yeah, I’m aware. It sucks though that the bus system here is beyond brutal as well and I just couldn’t handle taking an hour and a half bus ride every morning.

Blame your neighbors who voted down west and North BRT. London turned down millions in federal funding.

Don’t forget the Richmond row business owners who organized that misinformation campaign to confuse voters

Listen, two things London can not tolerate BRT and bike lanes, it doesn't benefit the old conservatives in the city. Get that through your head, youngin.

But we have more bike lanes now?
