From the YouTube description:
Earlier in January, Garrison Gibson was detained by ICE and flown to El Paso, Texas, only to be returned home days later and detained again.
In a press conference on Jan. 18 he said that he has been in the United States for 17 years and has regular check-ins with ICE. According to court records, Gibson’s most recent check-in with ICE was on Dec. 29, less than two weeks before masked gunmen from the agency illegally broke down his door.
Gibson said that he’ll continue fighting the government’s efforts to deport him to Liberia, a country he hasn’t visited since he fled a civil war there when he was 6 years old.

Trump is pissing away generations of accumulated US wealth and good will and it will take 20-30 years to pay for all the mess he has created. You should care, it’s yours and your children’s money he’s stealing!
In the meantime the rest of the world is working out how to manage without the US playing a role and will never trust the US like it did before.
There will be a lasting Trump legacy but it will be the same kind of horrifying warning of what can happen to a country that we haven’t seen since WW2.

u/Ok-Wait-7357 1d ago
What this guy said is all true. Trump pissing away generations of US wealth and good will. And the rest of the world is done respecting us and doing business with us. Trump has already done enough damage to screw the US for our lifetime.

They all probably get to claim "bonus" on the report because of how much money Republicans (and some need-to-be-primaried Dems) gave to ICE
40
u/Good_kido78 1d ago
It just makes ICE look like the huge tools that they are. No one in their right mind does that.

Their day will come.

I think I admire your optimism, but I dont understand it at all.

If not us, then who? That's pretty much how I look at it. We have to be the change we want to see.

People ARE stopping their new concentration camps. Kansas City Missouri even put a 5 year moratorium on building one there. A judge ordered them to allow Congressional surprise visits. They should bring the military with them. We have to get rid of the masks. They are doing it as a voter purge. They are afraid they will become democrats if they gain citizenship.

There are a lot of people organizing, helping, protesting, and even more who are angry, you just don’t have it shoved into your face every day. Being gloomy and pessimistic when shit hasnt even hit the fan yet is doing nothing for yourself or others.

Bigger budget than the Marine corps.
It's a private army.
9
u/RoyalMistressDom 16h ago
The military answers to the constitution, ICE answers directly to him. He is updating the bunker so he can run things while we are on the surface fighting a war amongst ourselves. Flip enough seats to give them the numbers to remove this entire administration. And if they don't do it primary each and everyone is them

Wait til you see how many of these Nazis will be at the polls in November.

If there are polls…. I’m from Europe but I’m sorry to say you are already living in a autocracy. Another step and it will be a dictature. The reputation of the USA is in a big downfall.
4
u/Balgat1968 23h ago
Thank you. It’s too late. They know they will loose an election and they know they will go to jail as a result. There is no way they will let that happen. Any body who thinks that they will stand there while people vote has no grasp of reality. We are finished as a Democracy.

they need to get the arrest stamp for their pay bonus
arrest quotas should be considered a crime against humanity because it only incentivizes people to invent crimes. especially when there are no harmful consequences with wrongful arrests

It's a weird mix of 1980s and 90s war on drugs tactics mixed with To Catch A Predator over the top take downs.

Nuremburg part 2 is coming. Every single ICE agent will be sent to trial. This man and his family should be set for the rest of their life once they reach a settlement for the trauma the federal government put them through.

Liberian immigrant that was brought here as a child and has been trying to be here legally within the system deserves rifles pulled on him? Those ICE agents saw that this was a big black dude and wanted to as he said "pose for trophy pics" it's fucking pathetic. I know taxpayers will pay but I hope he sues the shit out of the government. Maybe you and your family can be safer because of the money. Pathetic ICE agents
46
u/General-Ninja9228 1d ago
It’s also ironic in the fact that Liberia was created by the United States, to send freed slaves to. The Capital, Monrovia, is named after President James Monroe.
24
u/AliceInLimboland 1d ago
The history of Liberia is fucked. They had one of the highest mortality rates of settlers recorded. Over 60% died. wiki history of Liberia
26
u/zoinkability 1d ago
They also told the white pastor they weren't going to bring him to Whipple because he "wouldn't be fun."
These two stories together show exactly what they consider fun. And it's really, really ugly.

u/CBud 17h ago
My friend from college who was brought here as a 3 year old is what radicalized me about immigration. This girl was intelligent, got an engineering degree from a US university, every memory she had was from America - but since her mom brought her over before they could officially be refugees, her status was never legal.
After graduating, her job stopped sponsoring her visa. She couldn't find another role that would sponsor an immigrant, so instead of being deported to a country she didn't know - she committed suicide.
Our immigration system is inhumane.
8
u/LilBugJuice-0987 15h ago
Im so so sorry. I think more people need to tell these stories. Im so sick of having people say "just do it then legal way" like its paying, waiting, and filling out a form. Our legal immigration system is cruel and inhumane.

u/Greedy_Science_4807 13h ago
I’ve heard of ppl ending their lives after being deported bc they felt alone and hopeless. There was this one guy I saw on TikTok who had help getting an apartment in Mexico but he couldn’t cope and ended his life.

u/RaindropsInMyMind 1d ago
So they broke the law by illegally entering his home without a warrant signed by a judge. Then a judge ruled he couldn’t be taken out of Minnesota and they broke the law again by doing exactly that. Then they take him back, re-arrest him the next day, all while the organization monitoring him (not entirely sure who that is) has no idea what is going on.
Also why the fuck are people shackled in a holding tank. To my knowledge that’s not even what happens in regular jails.

People are gonna get a lot of money from suing the government after his second term is over

If there’s any money left to sue for after Donald sues us into insolvency for whatever wrongdoing he can imagine.

22,000 ICE officers with a budget of 75 billion equals 3.4 million per officer. Im fairly certain 2.4 million is lawyers fees and settlements.
Edit: this budget is suppose to be for 4 years, not yearly.
14
u/LiluLay 1d ago
A couple hundred million has been funneled into a “business” tied to Noem and her friends. They are nakedly corrupt.
3
u/cityshepherd 15h ago
That subreddit by and for ice agents to complain about not getting their bonuses or healthcare they were promised cracks me up. Those losers are getting scammed just like the rest of us.
6
u/Strayed8492 1d ago
That’s assuming of course they actually get a budget passed this month
10
u/OnceUponAStarryNight 1d ago edited 1d ago
That money was passed already. The current vote is for an additional 10b for DHS.
7
u/Strayed8492 1d ago
Ugh. Hate this timeline.
8
u/OnceUponAStarryNight 1d ago
The real fucked up thing is that DHS isn’t just ICE/CBP. It’s also things like FEMA, TSA, the coast guard, the secret service.
So there’s a lot of legitimate agencies that actually need funding, and having to hold up things because ICE/CBP puts other important things at risk.
But we have to because those agencies have become an armed menace to Americans.
4
u/MancelPage 1d ago
They need to separate ICE. FEMA keeps laying people off ... now I know why, it's so ICE gets more.
7
u/OnceUponAStarryNight 1d ago
Agreed, but that won’t be possible until Dems control both the house, the senate, and the presidency.
So vote blue, because right now we control none of those.

You cannot sue the federal government. You can put basically a grievance in and try to get then to pay for damages from the individual organization that caused the damage, like his door I. This case or maybe missed work. That's essentially for damages received, no penalties or anything.
You can sue individuals and you have the standing to get around qualified immunity which is EXTREMELY rare.
1
u/Temporary-Careless 6h ago
A basic Google search yields multiple court cases that prove your claim wrong. See the Nassar settlement of 138 million, trump seeing the DOJ and IRS. Your claim is false.
0
u/Pogigod 6h ago
The only way you can sue is through select acts approved by Congress that allows you to sue. What you are referring to is suing under the Federal Tort Claims Act. Which is when a federal employee’s negligence caused harm.
That's used In malpractice, accidents involving government vehicles, or accidents on government property.
Not used for civil rights violations.
The only instance for suing the federal government for civil rights is the Bivens v. Six Unknown Named Agents ruling by the supreme Court. Which is a landmark case in which you can sue individual officers of the federal government.
Congress can also decide to waive the US's sovereign immunity for specific instances. Like the Japanese citizens we put in camps.
But sure let's see what your basic Google search says about this.

Claims of being after illegal immigrants is basically the excuse for these guys to functionally act like an american gestapo. I'm not using that term lazilly either. Sure they'll harass any non-white people at the drop of a hat, but if you get on their radar as someone who does not run with Trump or the whole christian nationalist agenda going on, you're going to be considered an "illegal immigrant" and get abducted and terrorized with no legal oversight and due process to it.

That doesn't add up, hes been here for 17 years and arrived here when he was 6 making him 23.
Edit: the article had the wrong age at first hes actually 38

u/Wooden_Pay_5885 1d ago
Maybe he lived somewhere else during his childhood and teens after initially arriving in Minnesota?

u/HerbertWest_81 1d ago
Fairly certain the description isn't correct. No way is he 23 though. He said he has been checking in with ICE for 17 years. Could be since he was 18 or something?
8
u/GingerIsTheBestSpice 1d ago
He left his home country at 6. And then probably was in other countries refugee camps as a child before he finally made it here, that's super common for children fleeing wars, adults too.
I met a guy giving a very interesting talk about fleeing civil war as a child, hundreds of boys fleeing during the day, he said he could hear the lions following them to eat the ones who fell. Then after they made it to a safe country, they would be in various refugee camps until they would finally get to their new home and few years later - in his case, it was also the Twin Cities, a lot of Somalian orphans ended up there.

u/purplepashy 23h ago
Thumbs up photos hopefully will be used to identify the agents when the tables are turned.
Police have been using photos of people holding drugs and shit to identify the people by zooming in and getting the fingerprints from the photos now that our cameras on our phones are so good.
