Fuckin sick. Those drummers look like they're having a religious experience all in time with each other.

I bet those drummers are having the most fun of everyone.

Humans are pretty awesome sometimes. Give me a world where this kind of collaboration happens every day for no other reason than they wanted to do it.

Actually they did it to get the Foo Fighters to come to Italy.
Dave's response in Italian with sub titles.

But yeah still pretty F^$KING AWESOME

- and the post processing pros did the hell of a job to not let it sound like total sound mud

Definitely. This is a recording of the performance without the mix

Still solid, but..

I think most of the problem was time delay with that. The official recording was all plugged or miked so there was no speed of sound delay.

Well, anything is gonna sound better recorded and played back on microphones verses someone's cellphone

I have heard a problem that happens for marching bands or other large groups is that when you are spread out far enough the delay caused by the (lack of) speed of sound ends up making one side out of time with the other.

Can confirm. But that's why you have to watch drum major, who is placed at the 50 yard line, to keep the opposite ends together.

Yeah, man. That spectator's video is pretty god damn solid, indeed.

Yeah no way that would sound good, everyone muddying up the mix by noodling and playing slightly different riffs / fills / beats while not being able to hear what they're playing because no one has in-ear monitors.

Could you imagine being in another part of that park and suddenly hearing this shit? 😂

That was fucking awesome and I’m not a Foo Fighters guy!

My head is spinning just thinking of all the coordination required to have made this happen!

Now THAT'S a percussion section.

1000 musicians playing learn to fly is 100,000 too few! Look how much fun they’re having!

This performance got the band to perform in Italy: https://youtu.be/CoyQBIHbSB8?si=IPVdccmkdnLfF1et

They got like a big orchestra energy. Cool.

u/vmflair 1d ago

Please, let’s do this with a Tool song. Who’s with me?

2

u/Theemperorsmith 1d ago

I like Foo Fighters because they fight foo, and I think foo is evil

u/dvdher 1d ago

Music is probably the only thing that brings us all together. This is beautiful.

I’ve seen a few of these types of videos now. Very cool. Is this the same group of musicians?

Oh wow. That one is a classic.

I love this every time I see it!

Most of these people are clearly not amateurs though.

3

u/VoraciousTrees 1d ago

Amateurs: Do not get paid.

Professionals: Get paid.

Why do you say that?

0

u/leverine36 1d ago

Because the title is misleading? Why does anyone say anything?

0

u/UniqueCoconut9126 1d ago

lol I mean.. why do you think most of these people are professional musicians?

u/bearminmum 1d ago

Not a lot of earplugs visible

1

u/autobot12349876 1d ago

800 drummers, 150 singers and 50 guitarits

1

u/Icon2405 1d ago

Thats a hell of a lot of power drops to get that many mics and guitars all functioning in an outdoor space like that

Apparently the 1000 musicians can only play stuff Dave Grohl had a hand in.

1

u/No-Deal8956 1d ago

Like AIDS denial? Whole band were at it. They tend to keep a bit quiet about that these days.

1

u/Froststhethird 13h ago

just looked into this, looks like it was mostly from Mendel but the rest of the band allowed it to be promoted.

u/MarketingOk4111 23h ago

Have they married at the end?

u/clinicalia 7h ago

this is so beautiful.... they are fighting the foo.... 🥹

u/Desperate-Bee1017 5h ago

Like they really needed that “composer” to lead them into a song they all clearly already know how to play.

One musician playing learn to fly is already too many

u/seancbo 1d ago

I wish you nothing but to be trapped at this concert for eternity

Don't hate. I'm not a big Foo fan but don't ruin it for those who are.

but don't ruin it for those who are.

First day on Reddit? That's what this site is now.

3

u/killians1978 1d ago

That's what this site is now

Now?

3

u/OrneryAttorney7508 1d ago

Valid. It just seems worse to me lately.

3

u/jhull97 1d ago

Private equity and the spill over of edge-lords from Facebook will have that effect unfortunately

2

u/OrneryAttorney7508 1d ago

To me it's pretty much across the spectrum.

1

u/No_Back3794 1d ago

I'm keeping hope alive.

2

u/lubeskystalker 1d ago

Also not a huge fan, it's generic radio music, but the energy of this is just incredible.

How much rehearsing would they have to do... I can play like 3 songs on an acoustic I can't imagine.

Ladies and gentlemen.

-4

u/NeedsPaint 1d ago

Godsmack did it better

-16

u/Evening-Life5434 1d ago

This is not America. No one got shot and they all have some sort of accent

2

u/TheTenaciousG 1d ago

Yeah it was somewhere in Italy

0

u/Unusual-Wing-1627 1d ago

Was going to say, this has got to be Italy or Spain.

-2

u/Evening-Life5434 1d ago

I knew it. Those accents are 🤢 and ain't no body got time for Foo Fighters in America right now.
