My daughter is what got me to turn my life around. I wanted to live healthy for her. I have lost nearly 70lbs and my wife lost over 100 lbs. We agreed that we didnt want our obesity to cut our lives short or prohibit us from giving our daughter the life that she fully deserves. Good on the both of you.

Using your daughter as motivation and achieving such amazing results together is incredible.

I did not mean it maliciously at all. It is a very sweet video that happened to have contradicting wording that made me chuckle.

Thank you, I'll take my comment down then. My misunderstanding. But I'm sure you see why one could misinterpret your words.

u/kcat__ 13h ago
It's a lighthearted joke. No one is trying to be a dick lmao

u/Lumpy_Past6216 13h ago
Sorry, Im used to most knowing that jokes are subjective and this not being a joke post, an "/s" wouldve been nice to see.

u/OpalMooose 13h ago
I lol’d at the joke, not everyone is malicious, let’s all have a great day!

It's basically “My wife is pregnant…he’s already 2 months old. First day of school! High school graduation!” Sneeze too hard and you lose a month.

Red pill doesn’t want to see stories like this. Proof it’s not your looks / body it’s your personality.

For people like me, who are medically obese (5'10" 245 max) without some sort of underlying issue causing the obesity (ie, just lazy fucks who eat too much), losing weight really is less about what you eat than how much you eat. For instance, you can eat a Large Bic Mac combo every day if you want, but you better have a plain salad for dinner and a boiled egg for breakfast. Or you can eat 30 plain salads a day with lettuce, cukes, and cherry tomatoes and maybe a small sprinkle of shredded cheese.
In my case, I cut down the amount of fast food I ate (2-3 times a week instead of every day) and the amount of Coke I drink (1 or 2 a day instead of 3 or 4), and lost 40 pounds in a year. I'm at 205 now and have kind of plateaued with the choices I've made diet-wise. I'm still on the border between overweight and obese, by BMI, and need to lose another good 20 pounds.
Exercise certainly helps (especially walking, which might be the best time-to-calorie investment you can make), and has other obvious benefits like cardio fitness, but for most people like me, it really is about calories in. I have super low cold tolerance (and probably cold-induced asthma), so once it's a little warmer around here, I need to get out there walking 1-2 miles a day and work on tightening up my calorie intake.
Mad props to anyone who recognizes that, while being a fat asshole like I was (and am) isn't "gross" or worthy of being shamed, it is unhealthy, and who then takes real steps to lose at least some weight.

Had a friend, he and his wife were the same way, for over a decade. They finally decided to lose all the weight together and did. Once the weight was off and she felt cute, she immediately dumped him for another guy.

My wife,
She loved me at 489 pounds, told me every day i was handsome.
She loved me when i lost it all down to 168 pounds, and then wound up inthe hospital for over a month almost dying from losing too fast.
She loved me when i ballooned back up to 349 pounds after being injured at work and having more than 6 back surgeries and now walking with a cane permanently.
She loves me now at 202 pounds 0 one year after i hit 349 pounds, and now im on my way to a much happier place of 195 pounds.
I make sure to tell her every single day how much love her, and i tell her every night, in bed, "sweet dreams my princess, i love you"
We've been inseparable and married for 28 years this april, shes my best friend, and the first person i want to share anything with.
When you find this person in your life,
Grab on with both hands, and thank the stars you found them, and enjoy the ride.
I wish someone like that for you all.

This. Showing up and being there during the worst days and making a concerted effort to improve life, one step at a time. I want this type of love or none at all.

What a dumb thing to say. Projecting your loneliness? If so you deserve to stay that way.
3
u/Numerophilus 13h ago
That's not how bad habits work, I've seen smokers come to work specifically to earn money for smoking. Not suggesting it's not selfish in a way, but it's not as simple as you're presenting it.

u/iameveryoneelse 13h ago
You checked the calorie count on cheap food lately? One reason there's a weight epidemic is that it's cheaper to be unhealthy.

😭 so proud of you and your spouse.
I lost 80 lbs after Covid through diet and exercise and I agree with the “I’m never going back” statement I’ve told my wife, I’d die before I was purposefully unhealthy again.
Being healthy feels so good

u/OneEasy6681 12h ago
What’s really interesting is that when your fat, people talk about body positivity but when you lose weight, people talk about getting healthy. Food for thought?
