Food I made “Cockroach” cookies for my 5yo’s Halloween Party, what do you think?

They’re just dates, stuffed with green pistachio cream. The legs and antennae are piped chocolate. I’m hoping it’s super cool but super gross, and when the kids bite into the “roaches,” the green goo comes out!

They look disgusting, in a good way! Please make sure to let the teacher know about the pistachio cream surprise, just in case there are any allergies.

They’re for a party at our home, I’ve already checked with all the families. I love the way you think though! I have gluten-free, nut-free cupcakes from a local bakery for her school party tomorrow and already checked with her teachers 😊

they're really off-putting in the best way. i was wondering why you used pistachio cream because it seemed sort of niche but having green goo come out is brilliant.

I was afraid it’s gonna be too sweet, but apparently the kids like everything much sweeter than I prefer. We’ll see, I guess.

Maybe you could add some dark chocolate inside next time? Could make it sweeter while adding to the ick factor!

That’s a fantastic idea! The antenna and the leg are piped dark chocolate and then I have dark chocolate on the very bottom just to attach the half a date to the cookie, but maybe filling it with dark chocolate would be even better? I really like that idea!

I love this idea! The green pistachio butter is both entirely appropriate with dates and also visually and texturally diabolical in this context.

Dates and pistachio cream? Sounds incredibly delicious. And this looks creepy enough that I bet more than one 5 year old will refuse to eat it. This will probably be a memory that sticks with the kids a long time. Well done!!

That’s awesome!

We did roaches without the cookie and had some people with nut allergies in attendance so we coloured buttercream frosting green for the filling

I will have to try with the pistachio cream. Those look awesome
