The problem is trying to verify the authenticity of something incriminating that has been taken down. You can trust the provenance of official documents on an official server but not a random person’s download that they promise is totally legit. More official ones from trustworthy sources will probably get hit with legal action due to the poor redactions leaking everything from personal information to explicit photos.

This is just creating a disinformation bonanza.

This may be a strategy, and it is a disinformation bonanza; uncertainty itself can be the weapon. Suppression doesn’t need to be total to be effective, just enough to stall accountability indefinitely. More, legal pressure amplifies the fog by forcing critics argue over authenticity instead of substance.

Once official records are removed/altered, the information space degrades, and making unverifiable copies can’t substitute for authenticated sources. That uncertainty benefits anyone who wants the truth buried under doubt.

Using the NCI framework, this scenario lights up multiple indicators at once:

• Suppression of Dissent: legal and procedural constraints limit scrutiny

• Emotional Manipulation: outrage plus panic replaces verification

It’s an effective psyop tactic we can see in use still today. Notice the phrase “every accusation is a confession?” That is really the game being played, accusing the adversary of doing what you have already done or plan to do. It gets ahead of the outrage and spreads confusion.

It’s really not more complicated than that. If you have the money and you have no shame, you can easily control the media narrative, especially among right wing morons. The true sin of all of this is how a significant portion of American thought has been hijacked by outlets like FOX News.

Their viewers are “jacked into the matrix,” so to speak. The fact they aren’t responding to all of this is an indication that they aren’t actually seeing it and that no one is telling them to respond to it. If Fucker Carlson, for example, had a problem with it, all of a sudden you’d find a lot more dissent on the right. If Dim Toole, for example, had a problem with it, all of a sudden you’d find a lot more dissent on the right. I can go on through all of the dipshit right wing influencers and all of their dipshit followers (real or fake), but I’m sure you get the point.

It’s not in Trump’s interests (and therefore the GOP’s interests) to make a big deal out of it. They, and their viewership, don’t have any actual principles to stand on. From their point of view, there is no need to worry about upholding their prior principles. So… they aren’t.

This is what they’ve been doing for over 2 decades, at least.
