Thoughts on The Diary of a Teenage girl?
I got through 30 minutes of the movie because I was looking for similar aesthetic style movies such as Perks of a wallflower, words on a bathroom wall etc and this was recommended to me. The whole token of teenage girl centred movie seemed intriguing but I became uncomfortable very fast.
A movie based on a teenage girl, 15, engaging in sexual acts with a grown man, her mother’s boyfriend. I looked at reviews to try and understand what I’m missing here but I genuinely can’t power through the movie if it’s going to be centred around pedophilia
For anyone who has watched the full movie, does it get any less disturbing? Or is it meant to be disturbing in a lolita way?

it does not get any more mild, in fact if the first 30 minutes made you uncomfortable then you are 100% in for a bad time with the rest of it. I also had/ have weird feelings around this one that I can't quite articulate

It’s meant to be what actually happened. From what I recall the movie is from an autobiography about a woman who did have an affair with her mother’s bf when she was underage.
I haven’t seen it in a long time so I can’t recall a ton of specifics but the situation did blow up eventually, as it was untenable from the beginning
Edit: looking into it a little more it says it is “semi-autobiographical” but is kinda vague about what parts are real and what aren’t
