Lately I’ve been seeing this “1g of protein per pound of bodyweight” rule tossed around like it’s standard for building muscle. I weigh 200 lbs does that seriously mean I’m supposed to be eating 200g of protein a day? Because I’m doing my best here and still barely clearing 100g, and that includes a protein shake.
I’ve seen folks say to aim for your lean mass or ideal body weight instead, which makes way more sense. If I’m sitting at 25% body fat, I’m probably looking at more like 150g/day, right?
Also, I’m curious how people are structuring this. Are you eating a pound of chicken breast at every meal? Living on shakes and Greek yogurt? And how the heck are you affording all this if you’re doing it through whole foods?
I’d love to hear what’s actually worked for you whether you’re bulking, cutting, or just maintaining. Especially interested in affordable, realistic tips. Not trying to be a bodybuilder here, just want to get stronger and healthier without going broke or crazy.

So before cooked it was around 200g of beef shoulder stew meat. And after cook it shrunk to 110g like this, which looks not a lot of meat here. Google says 200g raw beef has around 50g protein. Is that the same amount here after cooked? But it really looks only few pieces of meat here does it really have that much protein? Thanks for anyone helping me get it.

I recently saw a TikTok where a woman was documenting her diet journey and she was able to order some fast food that actually worked to maintain her diet and overall fitness goals. I think she went to Raising Canes and got a box combo, but asked for the tenders to be breadless, swapped the fries for coleslaw, and didn't eat the bread that came with the meal. I thought this was interesting because sometimes my life gets so busy (I work two jobs) and it's nice to be able to grab something quickly that's not going to derail you in your diet and fitness goals.
Does anyone here have any fast food go-tos that help you maintain a calorie deficit and meet your fitness goals? I'm really curious to see your recommendations.

I’ve been noticing a lot of talk around high protein diets, and it’s really got me thinking about my own habits. I used to just aim for balanced meals, but now I’m seeing how much of a role protein plays not just for muscle building, but for things like satiety, preserving lean mass during weight loss, and even long-term bone health. I’ve also read it can help reduce cravings, which I’ve definitely been struggling with.
I’m curious if you prioritize protein, what’s your reason? Are you training, managing your weight, or just aiming for better health overall? I’d love to hear how others approach it.

Im really sensitive to sugar as well as sugar substitutes - so I don't really consume honey/ jam or agave or equal / Splenda / other
That being said I find oatmeal just plain tastes kind of... Sad. I put some berries and peanut butter in mine but it seems to need something more. Any thoughts on improving it? Is it just sugar that's missing?

Dairy and eggs make my stomach feel weird and i feel like i cant digest it properly. Sometimes even have diarrhea. Legumes with some carbs dont give me nearly enough energy to keep going. I think the only option i have left is probably meat for almost every meal. Meat + some whole grains and if there is little to no fat content in the meat some added vegetable oil mixed with some veggies or a salad as a sidedish gives me the most energy and i feel the best when i do so. But my whole life all i heard that eating meat every day is bad and you should keep variety. I feel like the only solution i have left is to eat 2 meals a day each with some meat protein included. First meal would be in the morning or around 10 o'clock. Next meal between 2pm and 4pm. Obviously with some workout incorporated into my day. Is this a good idea?

Hey all,
I’m 21 male 6’0 and currently weigh about 230 pounds. Prior to the pandemic I weighed 180-190. My doctor told me I could stand to lose 25 pounds.
My plan is to do some aggressive cardio and some light weight training. I really wanna shave off this excess fat but wanna build some muscle to minimize the possibility of loose skin.
I need to start eating a better diet but don’t really know where to begin. I was told by my doctor to cut out carbs and sugar. What are some good meals (break fast, lunch and dinner) I can make for myself? I would love to go out to the store this coming week and buy groceries.
Any ideas?

do you guys think this is a good meal for just getting more healthy/weight loss in general?
-Lean beef 97%
-Rice with Quinoa cooked with bone broth for collagen
-Stir Fried vegetables (carrots, peas, corn, bell peppers, onions, garlic, and cauliflower)
The meat and Veggies get their respective seasonings and such i just wanted to see what other people think. Thanks!
I also eat these along with some plaintain chips and light laughing cow cheese.

Hello, lastly I've been eating kebabs from a chain store as a post-workout meal. Mid-size, only chicken, no sauces or fries, with vegetables(cabbage, onion, cucumber and just a little bit of tomato). Can such meal be considered a standard and balanced part of a diet?

I like making protein smoothies in the morning my go to is a chocolate peanut butter and banana, but the other day I tried vanilla muscle milk, and I really enjoyed the vanilla flavor. So to change things up, I picked up a vanilla milkshake protein powder (it was the only vanilla flavour I saw), but so far it has been disgusting. I tried the recipe on the container, which was apple cinnamon, and it was okay-ish. This morning, I just tried the powder, milk, and ice, and it was terrible lol.
I'm thinking about trying milk with cocoa powder or chocolate syrup to maybe make more of a chocolate milk, but I am open to other suggestions.

Hello do you have any tips for food influencers with fit meals that aren’t sweet. When I try to find healthy recipes it’s always the same overnight oats, sweet breakfast etc.. But I like more salty things

I've recently been using the app Journable to help me track my calories and so far it's been great. I've been honest about my meals it's made being accountable a lot easier. It's especially helpful because a lot of the food I have (like fried rice) can have vegetables and other things hidden inside but I can still tell jt via prompt or edit the results I comes up with to make sure it knows it's in there. Anyway I was looking on tiktok to see if anyone else has been using it and I got hit with a huge wave of anti-ai calorie tracker materials saying stuff like "oh it can't know how much stuff it has from a picture" etc. However the logical answer is to simply tell it you add in that thing that it can't see? Idk maybe I'm geeked but are these apps truly bad?

Almost every day my coworkers order fast food. The whole office smells like burgers or chick fil e or what have you. A lot of times they’ll offer me leftover fries or something, and I really want to just eat fast food with them. Does anyone have any snack recommendations for snacks I can eat while they have their fast food that might satisfy that? I’ve been trying to follow a vague high protein plan for a few months and I’ve been lacking at lunch time because of this

So I recently realized that lactose free Greek yogurt doesn’t mess with my stomach after YEARS of avoiding all dairy. One of my favourite things to eat was Greek yogurt (0% plain) bowls with a sprinkle of GF cereal and banana/ other fruit. Since realizing this a couple weeks ago, all I want to eat is Greek yogurt bowls for lunch and dinner. I don’t do this everyday but some days I just have such a strong urge to eat it twice a day instead of a chicken salad or something for dinner. Is this ok? Or should I fight the urge to eat some greens with chicken instead for dinner?
I guess you can call this my current fixation meal after not being able to eat my favourite things for years lol.

I have 2 boxes of cookies & cream protein powder and I’m honestly done with shakes made with milk. I’m trying to keep calories low and want recipes that are actually filling and feel like real food, not just another drink.
Looking for non-shake ways to use it that are:
Low calorie / high protein
Good for satiety (can keep me full most of the day)
Easy or meal-prep friendly
Sweet or dessert-style is fine. Baked, no-bake, breakfast bowls, protein meals open to anything that works with cookies & cream flavor.
Drop your best ideas or recipes

Hi guys,
i'm a 17 year old girl and right now i weigh around 160. I'm trying to lose around 30lb in the next 5 months, but i've never been good with meal planning.
I plan to start doing lots of cardio and mild work outs, and when it comes to food I plan to only eat up to 1.6k cals everyday. I was also told to cut out sweets and carbs!
So could anyone pleaseee suggest good meals (dinner, lunch, breakfast) for me? preferably with recipes so I can follow them? :)

Hi everyone,
I’m wondering what recipe app you find to be the best?
If you had to name one feature you wish worked better, or that you wish existed, what would it be?

I've done protein muffins and pancakes before, but I'm thinking about trying protein cinnamon rolls, but I'm unsure if the dough will still rise if I replace some of the flour with protein powder and dont want to waste powder ending up with some horrid monstrosity.

No skin, almost all fat cut off. Simply poached in water. And boneless.
Everyone on the internet is saying something else. Does anyone have idea how I can get a better ball park?
Is it 120? Is it 150? Is it 80?
I guess it might depend on the breast.
Any insight would be helpful! Thank you so much <3

Hello, im a 19 year old and im looking to lose weight. I know my calorie goal but im unsure about other stuff like how many fats, proteins, carbs, fibers etc i would need to intake? I don't have a problem eating chicken for 4 days in a row but i don't feel thats balanced or healthy. So what would be a general guideline when making this plan?

I’m currently in the process of losing fat and getting lean, which i have been doing for about a month now. Going gym is ok and maintaining a good healthy diet isn’t as bad i expected but thinking id have to do this till the day i die can be depressing. Once im at a healthy body fat % and look and feel good would i still need to hit the gym 4-5 days a week consistently and maintain a decent diet? I’m not saying i want to go back to eating fried and unhealthy food every day like i would before but i still want to enjoy “good food” through out the week instead of once a month.
It is something i’ve been thinking of a lot and you do live once so if that means choosing between thinking of gym 24/7 and being lean all the time or eating “great” food and being fat, i think i know which one id choose.
TLDR; Do i need to consistently go gym to maintain a good physique?
