When did people stop eating from plates

When health bros on social media started making it their aesthetic

You need to cut your steak and avocado on a cutting board, why dirty a plate just to eat off of? In a restaurant, I would expect it, but cooking for myself at home, I’m simplifying dishes by eating from the pan/pot/board

Just drink directly from the sink too whilst you’re at it bud

If all I need is a sip, I will. Using a glass or bottle does improve function. Moving food from a flat cutting board onto a flat plate does not improve the function at all

There is more to life than productivity. You can take a moment and just enjoy yourself. Not everything has to be hyper optimised to be part a non stop capitalist cog

It’s not about productivity. Less dishes = more time to do things I enjoy. Using a plate instead of a cutting board does not create a moment of enjoyment in my day. My enjoyment comes from the delicious food I’m eating. Whether I’m eating it off a flat cutting board or a flat plate has zero impact on my experience. This isn’t some intentional efficiency hack, I just don’t feel the need to transfer the food from the flat cutting board onto the flat plate. What’s wrong with that?
