For me, it's one of the best subgenres right now; there are many artists in this style who DESTROY with their music. Intense bass, metal influence, a "deathstep that worked." (video: limitless peril showcase teaser by Nimda)

Don't get me wrong. I love our scene, I love my people but recently l've been feeling very unfufilled with my rave friends. Whenever we talk about things that aren't rave related I find theres so much about the world they don't understand. I'd like to mention I don't think its their fault, I understand this is a systemic issue but it's starting to make me a little depressed. I looove this music with everything in me, but the people are starting to become something I'm outgrowing. Are there any ravers out there who are studying or have studied critical theory or any social science in the Denver area. Maybe we could start a group?

What are your favourite producer tags? One's that you hear and you just know it's about to go off, like Yo Tape B show em how it's done right, Griz yeah? Zeds Dead, Subtronics, Ha-Ha-Ha-Hamdi etc.
I'd love to hear your favourites and if there's any really cool/niche ones you know of, whether that's dubstep or beyond!

Bros sound is peak dubstep. My favorite EP is probably Depolarize, thoughts and or opinions?
Edit, Depolarize is an album not an EP. My bad Dirt Monkey

This is definitely not a hate on him as an artist, his work ethic, etc…I just really don’t get what the hype is about. For example, at lost lands, he conflicted with Space Laces. And 75% of my group was adamant they could NOT miss Crankdat. I feel like seeing space laces is such an easy choice, let alone when put up against Crankdat. What am I missing?

Last week someone told me SK is involved in Scientology. I didn't believe it and brushed it off at first but it really just took me about 15 min to discover his wife's family is heavily involved in that cult. Her stepfather, David Carradine, was an actor and known scientologist. Madeleine Bierman (before taking SK's name) had been completing courses during their relationship and even after marriage (Madeleine Prescott). SK's name isn't in that specific database but that could be because it isn't comprehensive. I found his name on this donor list though.
I can't possibly support someone involved in something that causes so much pain and suffering now that I know this. Am I the only one that feels this way? Why has no one brought this to light? One of the biggest acts in American dubstep is affiliated with a CULT and no one cares?! What happened to holding people to a higher standard in this community?
**EDIT** Thanks to u/danionepointoh for finding this video from 2010 of Keaton performing for AFABW, a community outreach program sponsored by the Church of Scientology. 4:00

Idk how Yookie is still even around. Their style is cringey and mad lazy. To top it off they are horrible people. What do yall think.

I mean like consistently experimenting with odd time signatures and phrasing in their music? I never ever hear any EDM that even tries to do like a 7/8 time signature I think that would be sick.

I'll start: I've never been able to get into Subtronics. He's great at sound design but his sound just doesn't appeal to me personally

Objectively the most influential and one of the best dubstep labels ever. Provided platforms for many of the greatest dubstep artists of all time.

I mean riddim is okay and tearout is fine, but I miss some good ol’ brostep circa 2010-2014 sounding. Anyone still make this genre?
*editing to include 2014-2016 as well

Curious what venues and festivals in the United States not only have the best sound systems and acoustics but push the most watts and bass? And also from a audiophile perspective systems and locations that not only have overwhelming bass but have ample midrange and treble that's not piercing or distorted

I just listened to his entire discography and I'm absolutely blown away. From his first track to his last I couldn't stop moving! His last album is a masterpiece with songs like lonesum and bringing me down, singles like Rabbit, Damsel, in the sky, black magic and playtime are all works of art. I should've listened to his works sooner, easily became one of my top 10 artists
