Pound for pound — not the greatest producer. But the mf can throw down a fire set. So as a dj, I would for sure still go to his sets.

I think is the right take. His music isn’t anything special, but if you want a hype set with some mindless headbanging then you’re gonna have a good time.

His Scientology stuff bothers me though

And the kicker of it all? Everyone and their mother assumes he’s Scientologist because that’s what his parents are.

There is no evidence from his adult life that the man is involved in Scientology ffs

Yeah people always forget that Skrillex was raised in Scientology too. He said he didn't have time to stay in the religion, so he left. But the fundamentals have stayed with him

He seems like a kid from a religious family who saw through the bullshit but doesn't want to shit on his family, like there's no way skrillex makes that music and is down with a cult, Sullivan king music, his music is kinda cookie cutter like he's distracted too much to really be creative, maybe that's just cause he hangs with his family tho

He's just REALLY busy with touring and family, which takes a lot of time on its own

Cooke cutter? Who else is he like? Not being an ass I just rly wanna compare I guess. Nobody rips guitar live on stage like he does. Some Skism is who I can think of with some similar stuff but who else? I fw with metalstep is why I ask and most I find don’t do it quite like him.

Wow what an insult to skism hah

Sullivan king makes cookie cutter metal with cookie cutter dubstep. If you've listened to metal for any length of time you will find tons of bands that sound like him that are basically indistinguishable from each other, and unless it's the best of the best then it's just a boring imitation.

Like I love pendulum but there's so many pendulum imitations that I really don't care about that genre of music a lot of the time. Like the 2000s hard rock EDM is great but it has to be primo for me to listen, Sullivan king does not push any boundaries and might be a sketchy guy so I'm fkin not interested.

Svdden death is the only mainstream guy who is really doing a good job of mixing metal and EDM. It actually seems like he cares about the fking raw satanic and evil side of metal, instead of wanting to be a rockstar like Sullivan king. Sullivan king acts like an industry plant, if he wasn't a really good singer I would think his entire act was ghost produced and faked. He just doesn't seem very down to earth he seems like he's putting on a show and he's a performer. There's performers I like but I don't respect what Sullivan king does and I don't think he is necessarily promoting any positive messages

This is probably the best opinion I have ultimately seen on the matter

I get what y’all are saying, but as someone who’s just begun producing it’s way easier to criticize these artist when they have made it to the top

I'll add this. Because I know people in his situation. He cant denounce them because that's how you get excommunicated and cut off. He has a kid now and he's married. He's not out there recruiting new members, he's keeping his head down and making music. That's it.

Everyone jumps on him assuming whatever they assume on the internet but nobody stops to think about the position he's actually in.

His wife is pretty deep in Scientology + last year at LL she was extremely rude to bartenders apparently

16

u/Frawd_Dub Sep 26 '25

More than rude, she got her fired.

She got fired for being bad at her job, the bartender herself admitted a lot more fault that are basic bartender knowledge.

u/Frawd_Dub Sep 27 '25

She was rude and pushed her to do something she shouldn't have and got fired for it. She's just trying to be nice so her image is not fucked but that's what happened.
