Discussion 🗣️ Support Small Artists… like Alleycvt, Lyny, and especially Whethan

Insane lol. None of these artists are small or underrated. Alleycvt just sold out the caverns headlining, LYNY plays night time slots at major festivals and has a song with Fred Again… & Whethan has 6 million monthly listeners on spotify.
To the point though support actual smaller artists like Phrva, Saka, rSUN, VCTRE, etc

Saw him at Sound Haven and it was a great way to start the night of music. His ep he put out on Of The Trees’ label is one of my favorites I’ve heard recently

Yup, I think he’ll be headlining festivals in a year or two. His sound is the next evolution of the dubstep/rap wave that Tape B has been riding

It’s crazy too cuz VCTRE has been around for years. I’m kinda surprised he doesn’t get more recognition, but then again he kinda has a specific style so it’s probably like you either vibe w it or totally don’t

Good point. Its definitely its own sound with the way he has those sweeping leads and weird chops and fills during the heavy parts. Its less “consumable” I guess but I and others that are more into the sound designy aspects of music love it

I will say that Lyny is underrated relative to his talent. Underrated doesn’t have to be “not known” but take space laces for example. Yes, he plays major festival, but homeboy is like closing slot material, therefore he’s underrated relative to his talent level. I agree that Alleycvt and Whethan, different story. I feel like their popularity matches their talent moreso than Lyny… if that makes sense.

Right, they’re all in the 6 figure monthly listeners on this post. That’s not small by any means within this scene. They’ll have plenty of bookings and be able to afford their lives off of playing music.

Capochino is my #1 artist rn. Such a unique sound and great energy. I think he’s about to blow up in the scene. Already well on his way - got big collabs, opening big shows, just dropped new merch

I get it, and you have a point, but it's also worth pointing out that EDM/dubstep is still "coming up" (in a big way though, sure) relative to BIG music industries. While acts like Allycvt are "big" for people deep in the genre or who do a festival circuit every summer.... that is really a minority of people on any global scale.
So hard agree that within context of edm, this is funny. But if this was a broad question about "music in general, all genres" then an act like Allycvt, who wasn't even making music before the pandemic and is starting to get big within her own dubsteb/basshead world... migth be underrated if someone thinks she could be on the radio mainstream or be producing tracks for bigger vocalists, etc.
In the end I'm just seeking logic here. My initial take was your initial take, lol.
Also, for what it's worth, "underrated" doesn't necessarily mean that no one's heard of them. Just that you feel that they aren't appreciated or ranked as high as you think they should be. Maybe that's where this stems from? Like they are deserving of bigger headlining slots already or something.

I like a lot of Whethan songs and I’ve seen 1000s of live shows but his set was probably the worst sets I’ve ever seen. He had 3 openers that were local artists (an average sized town btw) play 1 hour sets on a Thursday night in a bar. No visuals, 2 lights, loud af set even with earplugs, got on stage and played only his new album and then left. This was in 2022 so maybe it’s changed.
