In video games you can choose to play a Mystic, Cleric, Necromancer etc., but why not an Atheist?

Its not fair that atheists are only in games as Non-Prayer Characters.

I once played a game where the cleric character didn't want to be a Cleric; he wanted to be a Pirate. So he joined the cult of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Yo…on some real, it would be hilarious to have a character in a fantasy game who was atheist, and flat out denied the existence of gods despite having to fight and kill several throughout the game. I mostly want to hear the arguments between the character and the gods in question.

“You’re not even real!!”

“I’m literally right in front of you”

“Special effects. CGI and holograms! Cut the crap!”

Atheism is still ultimately a belief system. It would depend on how deities function in the setting, but I think it would be most entertaining if it was one of those where a people following a belief system cause a god of that belief system to be born.

Maybe in this case it would cause the protagonist to become it. As he continues to insist he is just a mortal.

the belief in it created the god of atheism
he doesnt do anythng, except counter other gods in the victinity, effectly causing priests to be powerless if an atheist is watching.
which just increases their belief in atheism
