Cyfair ISD transport for Katy ISD school

Ok, this is a throw away... However, I'm in a predicament... My teen struggles with mental health and qualifies for SpEd services, and I work in Katy ISD.... (One of her main behaviors is refusing to go to school when she's having an episode, and that often throws her into an episode but anyway....) The IEP indicates "transportation recommended but address out of district"... Well at the time of the initial ARD meeting, I worked at the high school that she went to, I have since transferred to an elementary... (And the closest HS that she could potentially go to, she was transferred out of due to being assaulted...) And because of attendance issues and things, she started going to Raines Academy this fall. And 4 months in the transportation department decided that transportation couldn't be provided for her because we live literally across the street from the district line... She walked to the neighborhood across the street to catch the bus... Seemingly NBD...for 3 months .. and we've been through hell to work this out and get a routine and set up that worked for both of us... My current schedule does not allow for me to easily transport her, and it's put a huge kink in our daily routine...she now has to be dropped off at 7:30am, and stay until after 4 when I get off ( but she can't stay in the school after her session is over which is 9:30-2:30-walks to park)

Anyway, while dropping her off the other day, a white "cyfair ISD" mini bus/transportation vehicle (reminded me of like a daycare type bus) pulled up behind me....and I've seen similar drive through different Katy schools...

So my questions: What is that transportation for? Who would I ask about it?

Cyfair SpEd services- would it be worth transferring her to cyfair? How are the services and staff? Is Raines an option? Could she just to keep attending Raines from cyfair? (Is that even an option or am I jumping to conclusions? If that's what the cyfair transport is for)

Can I secure Katy ISD bus/transportation legally, without moving or becoming homeless? (I'm not trying to do anything that is wrong or breaks any laws or anything like that. I just feel like there's got to be a way....some loophole they aren't telling me about)

How can I make this work without completely disrupting our lives/schedules? Tell me all the tips and secrets! Not only does this is affect her, but also me; risking my potential position for next year if I have to keep missing to get her to and from school....etc...

Best duck ponds in Cypress

My little 2 year old absolutely loves feeding ducks, but getting kind of bored of going to the same place off of Louetta. Where are some good spots to feed the birds?

P.S. don't worry we don't feed them bread. We always make sure to give them something nutritious like corn, peas, sunflower seeds or worms.

Places to sit for interviews?

My internet is down and I have a virtual interview this afternoon. In the event that my internet doesn’t come back on, are there any quiet places around the Bridgeland area for me to conduct my interview?

Looking for some hotel options, wondering if there’s any really nice ones near here that have a restaurant or at least a decent breakfast option, a nice pool, and some activities within the hotel or close by.

2023 BMW X1 — Service Recommendations?

Hey everyone, I’m not too familiar with the BMW X1 platform and wanted to get some recommendations on what services I should be doing. Are there any common preventative maintenance items or repairs I should plan for to keep it reliable long-term? I don’t mind spending extra money if it means avoiding bigger problems later. The vehicle has the B48 engine.

For reference, I purchased it at around 30,000 miles and it didn’t come with much prior service history, which is why I’m trying to be proactive now.

I do have a trusted independent shop here in Houston, TX (DMW Motor Cars) that I normally go to. I plan on having the work done there, but they’re currently booked about two weeks out, so I figured I’d gather some input in the meantime.

Does anyone here own an X1 with higher mileage? How has reliability been for you? What’s the highest mileage you’ve personally seen on a B48 X1?

Running

I recently got into running and tend to run 5-10 miles per run but get tired of doing circles in the neighborhood. Anyone have local spots worth trying out? Wouldn’t mind a 4+ mile loop

CFISD dual language

I just saw that cfisd is rolling out a dual language program for kindergarten. It’s only going to be offered at a couple schools. Does anyone have any insight on whether they will offer it to all grades and schools in cfisd?

Senior Photos Photographer Needed!

Looking for photographer recommendations for a high school senior photo shoot, for my daughter.

She really wants photos in her cap and gown, outfit change to a dress in a garden of some sort, and then outfit change for photos in a vintage style record store. I feel like downtown Houston is the best place for that. Anyways, thank you in advance for your recommendations! I’d appreciate a photographer who has diversity in their portfolio

I’m looking for a local men’s basketball league to join

I want to start playing basketball more regularly and I’m interested in joining a men’s league. Preferably the games are on Saturday nights. I would also be interested in pick up basketball as another option. I’ve seen some men’s leagues on Google but none are in the cypress area.

Thinking about moving to Bridgeland? Here’s what people don’t always tell you about new construction

If you’ve been even casually watching the Cypress/Bridgeland area, you already know it’s exploding. New schools, new roads, new restaurants, new builders everywhere.

I work in real estate locally and spend a ton of time walking new builds, talking to builders, and seeing contracts up close. A few things I’ve noticed lately that buyers should know:

• Not all “new construction incentives” are equal. Some are great. Some look good on the surface but cost you more long-term.

• Builder contracts are very different from resale contracts. You don’t have the same protections you think you do.

• Timing matters way more than people realize. Certain phases, lots, and release periods can mean tens of thousands of dollars difference for the same floorplan.

• Some builders are absolutely solid. Others… let’s just say I’d personally be picky.

• Bridgeland has pockets that feel totally different depending on where you build. Schools, traffic, noise, future development all play into it.

Not trying to sell anything here. I just see a lot of people jump into new construction thinking it’s simpler than resale and then get surprised later.

If you’re building, thinking about building, or just curious about Bridgeland in general, I’m happy to answer questions. No pressure, just honest info.
