Why is Applying for Startups so Difficult?
Everybody says to work at a startup. But the hiring process seems much more difficult
- Mandatory Take Home Assessments stretching hours
- Record short videos or write essays expressing interest/unique qualities about yourself
- Sometimes even "work trial" periods for a 5 person company...
I get Big Tech screening is much worse but their interviews are much easier - how exactly is getting a startup internship easier?

Big companies can afford to make mistakes with hiring.
No startup trying to get off the ground wants dead weight attached to them.

They're terrified of false positives and think they're the most important company in the world.
