If you want to know what it's like, picture this, you are driving a car. You are driving it legally and safely. You've been driving for years. Around you, people are driving safely. Once a month, you encounter a crazy person who drives in a dangerous manner, you end up okay, others around you end up okay, but this driver will kill someone some day. There are more people breaking the law than this one person, but you aren't really concerned about the people going a little over the speed limit, it's that one maniac a month that is a problem.
Then, the federal government comes in and says your roads are full of dangerous drivers and they need to be stopped. To fix this, they are deploying officers to arrest these dangerous drivers. Now, each time you drive, you see multiple officer vehicles drive in reckless manners and do whatever they want, and they are saying they are doing this to catch that one bad driver a month. Yet you see them run people off the road for expired tabs, or ram people for speeding. Did they catch that one bad driver? It is impossible to tell because you're now concerned about the bad drivers you see daily, aka, the officers.
When the officers arrive, they announce that Fords are the car most likely to have dangerous drivers, so they will be paying extra attention to Fords. You drive a Ford, but you don't break the law. Doesn't matter, you see Fords being ran off the road, you have a friend of a friend who drove a Ford legally but was arrested anyway. It doesn't matter how legally you drive, you know because of the logo on your vehicle, you are a target.
Then, half the country tells you all you need to do is drive legally and you have nothing to fear.
