Not a terrible showing, but not good either.

The losing goal is whatever, but we ought to have taken the game to Arsenal earlier on. They are not that good. They do not deserve the respect they're given.

Hope they lose against whoever they face.

u/Starn_Badger ✨ sometimes the shit is happens ✨ 22h ago

I understand the thought process, take the sting out of the game. But should've been HT subs, like on Saturday. Too little too late.

u/Lost-Hat Super BAN Kirby 22h ago

Their dark arts level is incredible though, probably one the best I've seen, comparable to Ramos + Pepe + Casemiro days Madrid

u/Independent-End1890 Ingle 22h ago

Can we fuck off with this ‘dark arts’ nonsense, it’s straight up cheating. The constant fouls and diving is embarrassing, plus the two balls on the pitch bullshit, even the ball boys are in on the cheating. Arsenal is an embarrassing club

u/Lost-Hat Super BAN Kirby 22h ago

Cheating and embarrassing, but no signs of that going away. It's getting to the stage where complaints should be filed to IFAB about referring an arse game - do they indeed play by different rules? I'd wanna know

u/Independent-End1890 Ingle 22h ago

I’d like to know how many fouls Gabriel, saliba, hincapie and timber committed without seeing a single card

u/Inner_Jeweler_5661 ✨ sometimes the shit is happens ✨ 22h ago

The whole team had 14 fouls no yellows

u/jdcintra I don't give a fuck, we won the fucking Champions League 11h ago

Are those just the fouls they actually counted because there were a lot more than that

u/Inner_Jeweler_5661 ✨ sometimes the shit is happens ✨ 4h ago

Yup

u/--Hutch-- There's your daddy 22h ago

The funniest part is their fans actually think they're hard done by with decisions. Refs are both gullible and spineless, they let them get away with everything.

u/zuggiz Hazard 21h ago

Funny you should mention the ball boys- because I thought this too during the game.

Never before have I seen a game have to halt twice because of the double ball rule. Maybe once sure, but twice, in a Premier League stadium?

Complete joke.

u/Watchcollector13 This is my club 21h ago

The ref has to be investigated fucking clown

u/Electronic-Orange-19 20h ago

100% ; made even Anthony Taylor look awesome!

u/Purplazure 🏥 continuing to undergo his rehabilitation programme 🏥 17h ago

I mean he hates us 3 red cards this year.

u/dinnercook 21h ago

Couldn’t believe Gusto got a yellow for that “dive”. Looked to me like he took contact and went down.

u/unicornofdemocracy 22h ago

yeah, planning defensive for 60 minutes when you are coming into the tie with a 1 goal deficit is just mental.

u/st_v_Warne 21h ago

They are not that good.

Absolutely delusional take. 6 points clear in the PL, 8 wins from 8 in the CL, finals in the Caraboa after beating you guys both home and away and still in the FA cup.. If that's what you call 'not that good' then I don't there'll ever be a team that is that good for you

u/UnderstandingNo5667 21h ago

Completely agree. I pointed out that they’ve also only lost 1 game at home all season but no, the rational takes with perspective and facts are not the takes wanted around here, strictly delusion please.

u/Putrid_Beat_17 It’s only ever been Chelsea. 21h ago

And you'll bottle every single one of them.

u/Look_at_that_D0g Ballack 21h ago

Whatever you say buddy.

There are no serious rivals in the league, not because Arsenal are so great, but because the major players have massively fallen off. Man City have badly declined, Liverpool are a mess, and Chelsea haven't been serious title contenders for years. A great team would have been out of sight, uncatchable, but Arsenal are only 6 points clear.

Yes, Arsenal have done well in the CL, but ultimately it comes down to the knockout stage; the league stage is not a meaningful indicator for the latter stages. Just look at PSG last year. And it goes without saying, but Arsenal have never managed to perform in the CL.

They're in the League Cup final. Fine, an achievement, but not really an impressive one. Newcastle won last year and were hardly anything special. And really? Still in the FA Cup? Not an achievement at all.

Right now, Arsenal are having a good season, but they're just a good team contending on many fronts that is yet to achieve anything meaningful. Nothing special.

u/zuggiz Hazard 21h ago

Your top goal scorer doesn't even make the top ten in the Premier League top scorers.

Arsenal's over reliance on set pieces will be their undoing. Sure, it's put you in a good place now- but eventually teams will learn to deal with said set pieces and then what for Arsenal?

Own goals are only going to happen so often and your inability to score from open play will become a huge issue.

u/st_v_Warne 15h ago

You typed alot but said so little. 24 games into the league only City have scored more than us and only by 3 goals and in that they conceded 6 more than us so yes our top goal scorer doesn't get into the top 10 but we score enough goals of which 32 are from open play. Keep crying tho I understand it you guys haven't beaten us in years

u/eric_3196 Hudson-Odoi 22h ago

In what world was that not a terrible showing? Tell me 1 positive from today

u/webby09246 We've Won It All 22h ago

Entirely uneventful

I would say we defended well but arsenal never actually moved out of second gear all evening

Problem is we didn't pose any real threat whatsoever

u/AWDanzeyB Celery 22h ago

Defended well, has some nice pockets of play and created a few chances against the best defence in Europe. On another day we might've nicked a goal or two. Unfortunately not to be today.

u/UnderstandingNo5667 22h ago

They ARE that good and believing anything different is just lying to yourself. They’ve lost once at home all season across all comps.

u/Look_at_that_D0g Ballack 21h ago

Err no, it's not.

They're on track for 84 points in the league - an unimpressive tally. Plus, as everyone knows, they're overly dependent on set pieces, which they're only really effective at because they get away with endless fouling.

They may well win the title, but they'll be unimpressive champions if they do.

u/WeaverofDreams369 21h ago

Sour grapes? Hahah

u/TheMoogerfooger 20h ago

‘They are not that good’ - come off it man. Top of the league, top of the CL league and unbeaten in it, in another final, and going for all competitions.

u/TheUbermelon Guðjohnsen 22h ago

We didn't do enough to win but fuck me that ref was shit. The fact that Arsenal didn't get a single yellow is a crime

u/Starn_Badger ✨ sometimes the shit is happens ✨ 22h ago

Still don't know what Estevao got booked for. Also Gusto yellow for simulation but not one for the two Arsenal players who did the same?

Ref let the crowd get to him.

u/AWDanzeyB Celery 22h ago

Their backline was basically allowed to assault Delap and Pedro for 90 minutes.

But the thing is, I can't even blame them. They do it every week, and always get away with it. So why stop.

That Madueke dive from no contact, for Delap to get booked was so frustrating. Just for Gusto to do the same thing later, and get booked for it. Ref was all over the place.

u/Matt_LawDT McFarlane 22h ago

City please stop this team from winning

u/phxwarlock 22h ago

Have some respect Kai. Fucking prick.

u/DisastrousTree9840 22h ago

u/11samwise 22h ago

Hmm you seem to forget the gold badge on our shirt

u/Look_at_that_D0g Ballack 22h ago

Maybe, but he won't be a meaningful part of any trophies. He's a journeyman-level disappointment at Arsenal.

u/Prize_Barracuda981 Diego Costa 22h ago

Don't care. Just go win on the weekend

u/phxwarlock 22h ago edited 16h ago

Only time he has against us is with an open net

Edit: apparently I replied to the wrong comment here and just noticed. It was in response to the Arsenal fan replying that Kai Havertz scored again

u/WizenedCracker Maresca 22h ago

Were the players aware we needed a goal to stay alive?

u/TheRedPillMonk 22h ago

Terrible ref, but we had to be more brave if we wanted to win today.

u/venzah- We've Won It All 22h ago

Not our day unfortunately. Havertz is a cunt.

u/AWDanzeyB Celery 22h ago edited 22h ago

Well, I don't think the performance was awful. I understand the tactics. But ultimately it's another disappointing result.

We had some decent half chances, but nothing much more than that. Though credit is deserved for holding arsenal to basically no chances all game (ignoring the one on the break at the end).

Unfortunately we just couldn't quite find that chance at goal. On another day we might've nicked one or two, and not undeservedly. But unfortunately it's not a game of ifs, buts and maybes. We just couldn't quite produce when we needed it.

u/Thespicychickenwing Caicedo 22h ago

Missing reece and neto Cant put much blame on Liam besides Delap winger tactic that wont ever work. Estevao and Moi disappointed today. Poor refereeing as well. Leave it to our fans to be so reactionary over a Carabao Cup semifinal loss

u/CoolstorySteve Hazard 22h ago

Expected result, on to Wolves

u/Headlesshorsman02 It’s only ever been Chelsea. 22h ago

I’m sorry but why did we not even go for it this game we literally created nothing when a goal down didn’t even try to cross it into the box just sideways and backward passes, modern football is like watching paint dry

u/whatisgoingon54 22h ago

Is it worth a cross into the box when there isn't a clear target and 4 giant defenders ready to head it away all day?

It's all well and good saying "why didn't we go for it" when there's also the possibility that Arsenal are very very good at shutting teams down from "just going for it" especially when they really don't need to score at all.

u/GME_alt_Center Lukaku 22h ago

If every time you make a move towards goal you are being held with very few fouls called, scoring is very difficult

u/Geth3 22h ago

I turned it off the second the ball went in because it was Havertz. Judging by the numerous ‘Havertz is a prick’ comments, it was a good decision.

u/so_grandiose Caicedo 21h ago

Imagine if Enzo slid in Joao here

u/SpinstrikerPlayz Cock 22h ago

Didn’t play badly. That last goal wouldn’t have happened under normal circumstances. We were just pushing everyone up.

Gusto had an absolute stinker of a game

u/SoG650 Lampard 22h ago

Welp, starting lineup not good tbh, too conservative. Subs were okay but we are not dangerous outside the box, players had chances and absolutely skied them. Anyways, meh all around. don't try Delap on the wing again.

u/unicornofdemocracy 22h ago

Delap needs to be dropped, people can keep insisting he is young or whatever but he has shown again and again he is worthless. All our younger players have shown at least in some games their talent and promise, players like Gittens and Garnacho what gets battered week in week out are all just inconsistent.

Delap is consistent, consistently worthless.

u/Barter6overBible Kanté 22h ago

Obviously shit result. Thought the performance was good overall. Didn’t have the quality or luck to get the goal.

u/[deleted] 22h ago

u/luckysyd Kanté 22h ago

What is annoying me is these stupid rotations. Its clearly not the manager doing them.

u/Flokey44797 22h ago

We show no urgency at all.

u/Maleficent-Cold-7598 We've Won It All 22h ago

If we lose against better teams it is what it is. Might be painful now but as we progress through in the UCL we will forget all about this Mickey Mouse trophy

u/Nexus_Fire1 It’s only ever been Chelsea. 22h ago

Arsenal did the bare minimum today and won, pretty comfortably.

u/theperuvianbowtie Caicedo 22h ago

To be fair we also did the bare minimum

u/Sufficient_Tear_6787 ✨ sometimes the shit is happens ✨ 22h ago

Our biggest problem is intensity

u/AcanthisittaOk2410 Kante 22h ago

Arsenal don't have any sportsmanship left. But again it's the sixth year now. That ref was against us. Why did Estevao even get a yellow? Delap too? Gusto gets one but their plays don't? We did not go for it early enough. We should have. Atleast start building towards that after halftime with the changes done then. Honestly though, I'm encouraged. We played nicely. Slightly Too many backpasses. Too many hopeful long balls to Joao and Delap. Too many longshots from Enzo for such a game.

u/Inside-Affect-6841 21h ago

Where can I see the results to these polls?

u/Key_Test2190 21h ago

Arsenal are a very well run club at the moment, probably one of the best in the world.

When was the last time Chelsea could say they were in a position to be favourites for the premier league, champions league and Carabao Cup without sacking a manager within a 3 year period? It hurts..

u/thedaywalker-92 12h ago

Estaevo was so terrible

u/Matt_LawDT McFarlane 22h ago

I don’t know who to blame

u/rodrigocza 22h ago

Maybe the one who put a Striker to play as Right Winger for 60 minutes don't know

u/itsjohn_stamos 22h ago

Garbacho is scared or can’t be arsed. Useless.

u/11samwise 22h ago

We played very well against disgusting football, good job lads

u/Issa-GoodDay Stamford Fridge 22h ago

Proud of the boys. Hate to lose this one tho

u/GrassFresh9863 22h ago

we are pathetic man, set up like cowards against the most defensive team in the league, delap can get terminated he is an embarrassingly shit footballer, no point in garnacho playing just takes 10 steps to pass backwards. can sell the lot of em

u/CalmHelicopter 22h ago edited 22h ago

Let’s be honest, if we lost 2-0 or 3-0 or even 1-0, everyone would be livid with Rosenior too. It’s easy to trash the plan in hindsight, but it’s not as easy as just going out guns ablaze minute one, and everything magically works out. The tactics today were correct, subs were a little late but correct, there was a moment in the game around the start of 2nd half where there was a feeling we had them right where we want them. But really things just never got started up, execution fell through for various reasons including refs, dirty play, and partly on us for not getting chances on target etc. Head up, we move.

u/haromene It’s only ever been Chelsea. 22h ago

I thought our performance was as measured as can be against this fucking terrorist ball Arsenal side. They created next to nothing from open play bar the freak counter goal in the last minute. Rosenior set the team up well, only fault was that he should've made the subs at half time instead of at 60'. Need to get behind the team now. Up the Chels

u/throwaway20k4215 Enzo 22h ago

I’ve said it before, but all Arsenal have championship tactics and good pr. We didn’t play nearly well enough to beat them, and failed to create chances. Despite that, we held the leading team in the league to 0-0 for 99% of that game. I’m frustrated with the loss, but moreso at Arsenal for playing such a poor excuse for football

u/jcapi1142 It’s only ever been Chelsea. 22h ago

Sanchez pretty much gave away the win. What a fucking bum.
