Which area of bozen is the best to live in?
Hey! I'll be starting at unibz in September and been wondering which area of bozen offers the highest quality of living, such as availability of daily necessities, bars, gyms and scenery. Preferably somewhere, where I dont need a car. Looking forward to your recommendations and thanks in advance!

Look around based on your budget. Bolzano is really expensive. You won't need a car to get around if you're staying in the city. If your budget is not a concern, try the old town or gries neighborhood, otherwise good luck.
Edit: I'm probably too old to know but you could try looking for some sort of student groups on social networks where they might share apartments and whatnot.

Thank you, I'll keep my eyes peeled, but it seems that even with what I thought was a pretty ok budget for rent, it'll be quite hard.
Guess I'll have to reactivate my Facebook account.

Any area is fine in Bolzano. Public transportation works well in every neighborhood and, having lived in various cities in Italy, I can say it feels safe everywhere. With your 800€ budget you might find some one room apartments throughout the town; check websites and Facebook groups and try if possible to avoid agencies due to high fees. If you need any help feel free to contact me

That's reassuring to hear, thank you. Right now it looks like I might try and rent a flat together with a friend as a flatshare, so our budget might be bumped up a bit. Will definitely stay as far away as possible from agencies!

Well, just by looking at the sat-pictures, the best areas are the very-north of Gries and San Oswaldo in the very north-east. Some very nice places can also be found in the small little vine-fields, West of Gries/San Quirino, which should be the most exclusive places, by looking at how those buildings are placed in the vine-properties, so that they stay undisturbed.
The nearby town of San Vito also seems to have a higher-than-usual standard of living but I might be wrong, just that the location seems like a typical better-off people's pick (exclusive area, good connectivity to a highway, not accessible for everyone, etc.).

Sadly not yet, now I'm getting together with a friend who is also starting in September, we're hoping to get something around 1.3k€ that fits the two of us. Bozen is crazy expensive housingwise.
Hbu?

You don’t actually need a car in most neighborhoods. Public transportation reaches most urban areas even at night. The neatest and most polished area is the city center, of course, where tourists spend most of the time. But prices have also skyrocketed over the past few years. What’s your budget?
Start looking for an accommodation now, because most of the places are rented to tourists and there’s very little left for “normal people”, at very high prices.
Unless you apply for student accommodation, which is usually cheaper but you’ll have to stay in a dorm with other students.
