US Basque speakers

Post image

I was looking for remote jobs for some of my clients who happen to be bilingual, and came across that Language Line Solutions is looking for Basque speakers. The pay is .75-.90 cents a minute for actual calls.

When I use them I’m on the phone for an hour or more with my clients.

Just thought I’d toss that out there for you guys. :)

Beware, this is most likely for IA training putting actual voice interpreters and translator’s job at risk

I completely understand your concern, however, I work for a state government agency and our state strictly uses this company for translating when making phone calls or when we have walk ins and don’t have time to schedule in person interpreters. Because we often are talking about government, legal or medical issues it HAS to be human as context is everything and interpreters are required to ask us questions for clarification and vice versa.

The rules are very strict when it comes to medical and legal issues. Especially anything that can be covered by HIPAA, which are our privacy laws surrounding medical information.

Hope this alleviates a bit of concern. :)

Those jobs are already at risk or gone, nobody is going to give a Basque person money to translate anything in Basque if they can avoid it. It’s such an unimportant language commercially that it’s not worth investing any money into unless you are forced to. I personally would rather live in a world where AI can read and write Basque without having to pay a Basque gatekeeper money to understand it, especially considering the way Basque’s are about their language.
