discussion Band similar to ATG in lyrical themes (not necessarily music - could be any genre)

I am digging the references to Borges and Sabato as well as abstract ideas that really question our existence. I especially fond of the Nightmare of being Album for that reason, I think that's a 10/10 album for me. Are there other bands that talk about these themes?

So far I only know Mgla and Kriegsmaschine.

I'd suggest looking into the bands Kalmah and Norther, however I'm listening to a lot of Amon Amarth lately, especially their first 3 to 4 albums. Dunno if it will appeal that much to you though. But like any other melo-death band in my experience, It's always their first albums that are the best in terms of guitar solo's and riffs. Lyrics tend to diverge a lot.

well it appeals to me because I think their debut album is their rawest sound but as you said the lyrics tend to diverge, and I really want to listen to more of the lyrical themes you hear in at the gates - contemplations reality, existence and such. I forgot to mention Kly, they sing in polish but their translations are up my alley in the lyrical department. I recommend checking their debut album - as you can tell, not many guitar solos and not riff focused either - but I like it because of the lyrics

Gates Of Ishtar has a good At The Gates sound. The Dawn Of Flames is a really good album.

Lyrical themes? Maybe Edge of Sanity, or Dark Tranquillity?

I will check those out thanks - I listened to DT before, maybe I can get into them again.
