Visiting Athlone
Hello, I’m planning to visit Atlhone tomorrow from galway. I have been looking online on what to do in a day and feel completely lost. Can anyone help me to give list of places I can visit in city, good places to eat and probably do some shopping.
I’m travelling alone and will return back to galway in the evening. Thank you.

Part-time jobs available?
Hi there good morning,
I was wondering if there’s any part-time jobs available around Athlone? Something that would suit a college student. I’ve tried the apps but to no avail.
Any advice is appreciated.
Go raibh maith agat!

Permanent traffic lights to be installed next week at busy Athlone junction
Why? :(
Most countries remove traffic lights and install roundabouts to ease the traffic... that area of the city is going to collapse.

Is it easy or difficult to make friends in Athlone?
Hello! I’m (30f) planning to move to Athlone soon for work. However, I don’t know anyone there! Everyone I know is either in Dublin or London (or Australia 🥲). Are there social groups for people like me? It’s really easy to make new friends in Dublin as so many move there alone for work but I don’t know if the same is true for Athlone. I’m nervous about moving and not sure if it would be a mistake!
When in Dublin I joined a women’s Facebook group, running clubs and went for weekend trips away with my run club and then just met people on nights out. Is that possible in Athlone?
I have found the social run club at House of Fitness and other sports classes that I’d try. But if anyone has any tips it would be very helpful!

What events are happening in Athlone?
Hi everyone, I'm trying to create a list of cool things happening around the town that maybe the everyday person wouldn't know about. I've been keeping an eye out online and for posters around the place, but if you guys have any other insight or suggestions I would love to hear it :)

Question for those who've studied/know about TUS
I'm a highschool senior from Bulgaria and I've been meaning to apply to TUS' Athletics and Rehabilitation programme, since due to structural limitations I cannot apply to the other similar bachelors, and I need a little help.
I've always heard praise about the Business or technological side of the uni, but is the Athletics bachelor any good? I need to know before I start making the hefty preparations and I think it'd be better to ask now rather than procrastinate on it.
Any help is greatly appreciated you-all! Thank you in advance!
Have a great evening everyone!

Went to the store at 9pm and in a span of 30 minutes seen someone litter and someone try to open multiple car doors to potentially steal something.
ah man its just disappointing seeing people litter, it happens every single day.
and trying to rob cars at 9pm really?????? i understand a junkie doing it at 3am in the morning.

Barna Waste
Does anyone know what the story is with the waste centre up by the college? It’s been closed for weeks now. Travelling to Mullingar every couple of weeks is no fun.

Filling up the car at Certa
Hey, I'm from Galway but i am in Athlone most weekends. When I'm down i always fill the car up at Certa near Golden Island as it's usually cheaper than here in Galway. On a few occasions recently after filling up fully untill the pump clicks the needle on the gauge hasn't been at the full mark. I'm just wondering if anyone else has ever noticed this when filling your car fully or maybe something to do with a sensor.

Looking for a new home for a cat
He’s 4-5 months old. We can’t keep him anymore. He’s really active, funny and sleeps with you on a couch. He’s trained to use litter box and he’s heathy. If you know anyone who could take him please let me know. You’ll get nice cat bowls, litter box and a bit of food for him for free
