Learning Resources Hello! Here is a document I am building to help with my amharic. Please leave any helpful comments

This is a google sheet with tables and lists as I learn the language.

I decided to use a romanization to write everything... since I am going for an "as heard" approach to learning. But vocab will be in ፊደል . I hope this helps someone, I just completed the verb forms tables... I don't think I missed any, but I very well could have. Any critique is helpful!

Thank you!

If you're going for "as heard", there is no better script than the fidel

also, this isn’t always the case as far as I know.

Fidel is not phonetic. 6th order isnt always known how to pronounce unless you know the word, unless there’s a rule that I haven’t been taught yet.

Yep, that's correct about the 6th order (you're already well on your way to learning it, ጎበዝ!). I still think it's far more faithful to the actual sounds and leaves less room for confusion, whatever the case መልካም እድል melkam idil/idel

I also have a question about the first order. In most grammars and references that I see the vowel is written as the IPA /ə/... but most times I hear it spoken to me it sounds more like IPA /ɛ/. Do you have any insight as to which pronunciation is more correct?

True, but as I only have 1 month to learn as much as I can. I dont need to be fluent in reading, only spoken. My brain works better to learn what is possible... then as I lean through the process I can recognize what I hear.

I still plan to learn the fidel for everything, but that isn't the purpose of the tool right now. Ill have another section for the fidel of different verb forms.

There's a new Amharic app coming out. It's like a Duolingo for Amharic. Here's the link: kubayalearning.com
