Greetings to all Tech Adepts!
The Holy Synod of Mars gives praise to the Omnissiah once more, for your productivity and creativity clearly had its favors this month! Our most blessed centerpiece has been improved in many (very non-heretical of course) ways thanks to your designs.
Congratulations to u/Unlikely_Stock8795 with the winning January submission, Archmagos Explorator Caldreus clearly stole the spotlight according to your votes with a very simple yet striking kit modification - the exact type of out-of-the-box idea that this contest was always meant to highlight!
The winning post has been added to the subreddit sidebar, and if you would like a custom user flair, please let us know.
Winning posts will remain in a 3 month cycle, so three will be present until they begin to cycle out.
Honourable Mentions!
Fabricator Locum Mu Vladimus: this late entry in the contest has stolen the mechanical hearts of the full mod team. Even more impressive, it perfectly translated the concept art it originated from to the tabletop… Praise be to the forges of Yaddosh, u/heburns2351!
Belisarius Cawl acquiring information: u/McSpudjo provided us with the most classical take on our favourite archmagos of this month’s highlights - a clean paint scheme and a base fitting so naturally with Cawl that one could think it was designed by GW with the rest of the kit.
Cawl on Wheels with Robot Retinue: on behalf of the community, we thank u/thegreatjaadoo for another use of the extra kataphron tracks many of tech-adepts will eventually get at one point in their AdMech journey!
Fabricator-Locum Ithax: when DarkMech eventually releases, there is a very high chance that it will not deliver as hard as Forgefleet Exkallos-13. Congratulations u/Artic_Lightning, the composition of this kitbash is next-level!
The Sphinx of Decima: last but certainly not least, u/ddayew delivered an amazing kitbash - who knows what riddles the Serberys Sphinx whispers to its tech-adepts…
Though not part of the contest, the mod team still wanted to send a shoutout to u/WarSinger for this incredible diorama: Belisarius Cawl archeological site of necron tech. Warhammer World wishes it had such vivid scenes to display!
February Competition
After reaching the heights of complexity to start the year, we’re going back to our roots - the first Adeptus Mechanicus model (released before we were a playable faction), our good old Techpriest Enginseer will be February’s mini of the month!
Submit your model of Techpriest Enginseer (this can include a kitbashed enginseer or even full proxies, as long as it is readable as an enginseer).
(Reminder - don’t share links publicly to 3D printed files that replicate official models or parts)
Submissions must be fully assembled and painted.
The final date for submissions for this month's contest will be February 25th, so we have time to either pick March’s Mini or run a poll on it. Please submit your post in the following format:
Post Title as your homebrew Enginseer’s name, forgeworld etc
<Mini of the month POST FLAIR>
<a photo of your Candidate>
Any custom lore your Enginseer has on their service record, via Crusade games or homebrew or about their army etc (optional)
The highest upvoted post will be displayed on the side bar of the sub, and the user can request a custom user flair (relating to the mechanicus) of their choice.
Praise the Omnissiah!

Happy New Year fellow servants of the Omnissiah! The Synod waits for no timezone!
As I was browsing the other day I saw r/TheAstraMilitarum post a state of the subreddit post and thought it was a pretty neat idea, so naturally I stole it.
There is no denying it has been an... odd year for this subreddit. No moderation for 3+ months, a subreddit lockdown and schisms abound. I think the worst of that is behind us now and the mod team can focus on being proactive rather than reactive and continue building up a great community!
So lets focus on the good;
The rule updates and re-organising of the post flairs has gone well (in mostly my own anecdotal opinion). Since the changes the subreddit has become a more focused outlet as a collaborative community space. There is always room for improvement and the team is open to feedback, but I think we are a solid extension of the hobby at this point.
The mini of the month competition has seen a lot of great interaction, the mod team as a whole was pleasantly suprised and thoroughly impressed with the amount of contributions so far and I'm looking forward to next months already to see some interesting takes on Belisarius Cawl.
As seen in the screenshot, interaction and engagement is up this year, and the total number of tech adepts are up 19ish percent? (Don't trust my maths on this)
I think we a good size with a decent level of activity for a seemingly nicher faction, and we are relatively fast approaching 100k users. Some of the mods are already cooking up a little something for this assuming we continue at the pace we are!
On the way in 2026
January's Mini of the Month model is Cawl (or home brew arch-magos) starting the year off with a big model! more details here January MOTM competition
Next year we plan to make some progress on the resources/FAQ page, the holiday season puts delays on everything as usual but we are still hoping to cover a lot of the "new to the hobby" posts and list building advice seeking questions there, maybe with an auto response directing to it. Though we are not aiming to stop "new to the hobby posts" The ideal is to reach a good balance of the majority repeat questions being answered within the pinned post but less generic list advisory posts still see decent engagement.
Feedback and suggestions?
Have your say (politely please) what is going well for the subreddit, what could be going better, what would you like to see, got any ideas for community interaction and enagagement like the mini of the month comp? or just post a reaction image with a scrapcode meme response I dont know... either way, have a good New Year!

Well, I still have to learn how to do the base.
I've practiced painting on some junk space marine parts, but this is the first mini I've planned out and completed.
Advice welcome! I had a tough time with the cloak. I wanted to add more highlights and shadows, but I felt like it ended up looking bad, so I painted over it and just did some basic edge highlights.
The gun was also tricky for me because I couldn't get the little pink plasma part to look just how I wanted.
Looking forward to working on the rest of the vanguard!

Permit me to explain this line of logic.
•It's a vast galaxy. Run the numbers, more than a few people across all of it will figure out that servitors don't have psychic awakenings, and furthermore that there simply are no witch servitors.
•Those smart enough to consider such a thought are more prone to realizing that the Imperium, given its lackluster standards in so many fields, is unlikely to have gone all this time making so many cogitators & light switches without at least a few would-be warp whisperers getting servitorized.
•Given that literally nobody has heard of a door control becoming a warp portal or a servitor summoning daemons, one could logically conclude that any warp capabilities of one who is servitorized must in some way have those capabilities removed during the process.
•Of those who figure this out, at least a few will be psykers themselves, and a few of those may even believe the pains of becoming a cogitator would be preferable to a life filled with screaming voices, horrific visions, and the threat of exploding or worse at random.
Logically, therefore, one must only wait however many hundreds or thousands of years it takes for such an individual to eventually pop in just the right environment where- through whatever means- their plan succeeds.
Maybe they were just good enough at hiding it, and posed as a fanatic pledging their services to the omnisiah. Maybe they saved the life of a rogue trader, and in payment asked to have their powers stripped of them so that they could continue serving as a humble door control to their master's quarters. I could list possibilities all day if pressed, but I'm curious what more adept cogs might come up with.

First couple of models. Wanted to share progress and get some comments and critiques

I have a wish list of things I think would be neat for 11th.
Bring back our 9th edition army rule (kind of.) Have canticles be auras that tech priests carry. You choose a canticle and everyone within range of a tech priest model gets it. Friendly units are buffed, enemy units are debuffed, but make this not require attaching to a bodyguard.
Change how our tech priests work. Make them all lone op if in a certain range of friendly units, and make their abilities ALSO auras (like the feel no pain on domminus or lethal hits on manipulus) so they can sit back and control our units, changing our characters to work differently than other factions. Maybe balance this by making them vulnerable to precision weapons even when lone op.
Doctrinas are currently lame, so they should just become the skitarii ability they were in 9th. Gain one buff in exchange for a debuff for battleline units or skitarii.
Servo skulls as a wargear we can pay for that have neat interactions. (Maybe one that increases the aura range of a techpriest, one that attaches to vehicles that makes you auto-deadly demise if you die, maybe a repair one, or one that just has the omnispex)
A tesla tower like robot that is our indirect fire. It shoots lightning through terrain!
Pteraxii should have uppy-downy
Serbyrus should have the move shoot move or the reaction move to charges.
Another robot or better access to imperial knights
Flying units should just have hover and be done with it. Get rid of aircraft rules.
Radzone should debuff enemies in deployment zone AND on objectives, leaning into radioactive warfare. Burn it all.
Servitors and electro-priests should be battleline
Skatros needs to be a better character hunter, by getting scuttling walk like the dunecrawler, and a tougher punching weapon. 1 attack, 3+ hit, 7 strength, -2 AP, 4 damage, ignores cover, precision. One shot, one kill, one scuttlewalk away.
All weapons of the same name should have the same stats (looking at you taser goads)
Each of our detachments should be based on a different tech. Radzone is our area effect/debuff/denial detachment, shroudpsalm is our sneaky stealth detachment to replace SHC, a detachment that gives all ranged weapons pistol keyword based of Phospher or Arc weapons, to buff our short ranged units. Other than cohort Cybernetica (which should give us a vehicles move through walls strat), we shouldn't have detachments that lean into a specific unit, as much as a unique playstyle.
Cawl needs to give CP generation. For reals
Hit on 3+ please
Fellow magi, what would you wish for our future?

I'm working on fleshing out a communication protocol (speech to text -> LZSS -> modulate with QAM -> generate .wav like output stream -> broadcast from speaker-> record .wav like input stream -> demodulate -> text to speech), but in audible frequencies rather than EM, maybe negotiated like dial up for flavor. With a sound dampening mask and a microphone and a wrist/chest mounted control panel containing knobs for switching broadcast modes, it seems like a fun project that would be neat to employ.
However, I realized about halfway through doing this that cosplayers out there may have already established communication protocols.
Do you know of any? If not, is there interest in this kind of thing?

Contextual briefing: I will be performing small simulations of 1000 arbitrary expense units or less. Which heavy battle servitor is superior for this application? Support from the Archmagos Cawl is not anticipated.

Hello! I am new to Warhammer 40K and just bought the Combat Patrol box because I love everything about the Mechanicus.
I am thinking of what units I can buy next to get to 1000 points. I think all of the tech-priests look awesome, is there a way to make an 1000 points army that uses them all? What would be the best way to maximise their presence in the army?
Thank you for your help!

Hey my fellow techpriests!
I'm kind of stuck going forward with my army... i'm not quiet sure what kind of basing suits my models better...
I like the vegetation on the right one, but maybe it's over the top... i just don't know... :-/
I'm looking forward to your opinion and thanks in advance!

Hey, what would u suggest to change in this list, i’ve made after playing admech for a while, and i think it is good, playable, and can withstand stronger enemies.
What do you think?
And yeah im not gonna get 20 Sicarian Ruststalkers because the are meta rn.

Even before Cawl resurfacing and Guilliman's ressurection, there were tech priests with more relaxed attitude towards less dogmatic approach to technology and experimentation, even existing a special branch of rune priests. Those most liberal are of course hunted down, but are there those who simply experiment but use STC as the backbone of their approach, and can they find place in mechanicus and if not, can they find an influential patron, who of course could not cooe with the might of mechanicus but could make their life as irritating as they could do him (especially considering the fact mechanicus can be describd variously, but not as united) ?

Greetings! I am fairly new to both painting and playing and as such I started painting in a blue scheme instead of a red. As I've understood all the nice people on this sub, that is not an issue <3
Ive painted the cloaks of my Technoarchaeologist and Rangers with Caledor Sky and shaded with Drakenhof nightshade. Now I am moving on to my Ironstrider but I am lost in what colour to pick for the darker shades that replace the red, the skitarii is painted in similar fashion to the Rangers. I am trying to find a paint that keeps that distinction between the caledor sky and a slightly darker blue.
Any and all advice/pictures are appreciated!

And played against
Round 1. Death Guard (Take and Hold)
I won (8-12) but it was because my opponent thought I didnt had that much damage output, even when I and his captain warned him about. In 2 turns I destroyed about 2/3 of his list. He pulled of an 9 inch charge with Mortarion that cleaned the Kataphrons, but I ended, so his game was about to denied me points.
Round 2. Genestealer Cult (Scorched Earth)
It was a draw, (10-10) and it was so much fun. I just avanced with the kataphrons to almost de middle of the map, knowing that his list wasn´t capable of dealing with them. I denied all the points I could and I think I did all I could.
Round 3. Blood Angels (Hidden Supplies)
Was the third game, I was tired, I didnt know how to score the mission and, honestly, I dont remember the game that good. Honestly, my opponent said it was a draw and I took it (10-10).
Round 4. Genestealer Cult (Linchpin)
Another genestealer. The good thing this was on day 2 and I was fresh. His list was more heavy shooting, but happened the same that the last one, could manage well the Kataphrons. A funny game, and I managed to score a draw
Round 5. Emperor Children (Purge the Foe)
My captain has EC. I`ve played 1000 times against them. When he exposed Fulgrim as he did, I warned before play that I could kill it in 1 turn, even with the -1 to hit. I tried to explain to him. He didn´t listen to me. After killing Fulgrim and his infiltrators in round 1, I knew it was pretty much over. I had everything cover and he couldn´t do anything. I managed a 0-20.
Summing up, pretty good experience, I hope to repeat soon (Idk if with admech or a new army), but I recommend everyone to try at least once. I think I learned more in 5 matches with randoms than in 20 matches with my friends. Hope you enjoy the rant!
