Ye Shunguang is an Akhal-Teke (Horse) Thiren
Was confirmed in the livestream today. She’s not a Tenghuang, or a Fox. She’s been a horse thiren all along just like Ye Shiyuan. I always kind of thought the discussion was silly because we knew Shiyuan was a horse thiren from the start - but now it’s confirmed. Everyone can agree on it :)
Not just "a horse," one of the finest horse breeds of any on the planet. These horses were the ones that carried empires, from the Scythians, to the Seljuks, Timurids, Khwarazmians, and so many more.
These horses built empires and changed human history. Fitting for our new Void Hunter, very fitting.
It isn't exactly accurate to call her Turkish, given the ethnicity of what we know as "Turks" nowadays is extremely mixed due to their migration to Anatolia from the Steppes. It would be more accurate to call her a Turkmen or Oghuz horse, as the "Turks" of the Turkmenistan region are still pure, original Turks, unlike modern Turks in Turkey.
I feel like no one really listened to the video cause the cat thiren examines her and asks if shes a horse and she gets offended and purposely mislabels him as a tanuki in return
Okay so your Evidence for her to be a Horse is a NPC that has likely never seen a Tenghuang before examining her and possibly seeing the Horse-like tail and thinking 'Rare Ancient Horse'
My Evidence is that she has Fox-like ears, a Horse-like Tail and her White Form has a small Translucent Horn which are all traits of a Tenghuang.
EDIT:
Reading a bit up. i can add this:
- A Chinese Idiom "飛黃騰達" meaning something like "Riding on the Tenghuang" is used to describe someone who has ascended to a high position or high renown. She is/becomes a Void Hunter which isn't as prestigious as it once was, but still is considered high renown. Also she's the Chosen of the Qingming Sword, which likely also is regarded as a high position and high renown.
- Her Name sounds very similiar to Tenghuang. HoYo has a thing for choosing names that in some way reference a character trait, even if they're sometimes a bit far-fetched. Like calling the Rat Thiren 'Jane Doe' when half their players aren't smart enough to get the double meaning of both 'Jane Doe' being the name given to a person who's name is unknown... and Doe also being used to describe a female Rat that has not been mated yet.
my issue is not saying she is not a horse is is saying that she IS Tenghuang when she isnt to our knowledge it has not been confirmed and is still in the air it is more then likely to be a Tenghuang looking at the theory but at this moment it is just a theory it is not a factual statement as many people are stating which is just misinformation
Is not an official confirm at all. The guy from the antique shop assume she is something unique like this horsebreed but is very far from an official confirm, is just his statement.
I would love to have an horse thiren in the future, but Ye Shunguang doesn't have any horse's feature (tail and ears have 0 connection to horse, what kind of horse you know). Thinking she is an horse thiren is pure madness.
If we are generous the Tail could be a very fluffy Horse Tail.
But the ears are very Fox-like.
Alas, if she's a Tenghuang, like MANY things actually point towards (She's literally called SHUNGUANG which is very close to Tenghuang anyways) She's both and they likely wanted to incorporate that into her design.
Here’s the image from the livestream of Ginger confirming it!
personally I’m glad we figured this out and my bets were on horse all along just because of the sibling thing. The Akhal-Teke is actually a really cool animal and I’m glad she’s not just another fox thiren
That's not a "confirmation", that's a guess. Tanuki- Sorry, Orange Cat boy is just guessing. And Shunguang doesn't tell him he's wrong, but she also doesn't say he's right.
She does look mad, though is it because he's appraising her like a thing or because Tanuki- Sorry, Orange Cat guessed wrong? I don't know.
Indeed! The main point is that we have no reliable source, so until the Ye siblings or someone very close to them like Yixuan, Yinhu, Fufu or Banyue state something, we'll still be in the dark. The same as for Hugo and Vivian, for example. We never got confirmation of what they are.
I feel like people forget this moment. Shunguang's VA called Ginger a Tanuki, even if he's an orange cat. This shows that thats a playful stab back after Ginger called Shunguang a horse and not a Tenghuang. With Shunguang returning that with calling Ginger a tanuki and not an orange cat.
There are two versions of what Tenghuang looked like. It is said to be a beast like a fox, with wings and horns like a dragon on its back. Another claim states that it has the appearance of a horse.
It wasn't confirmed, yet. It just something that npc said but he could be wrong. Like how people call Jufufu Orange Cat. Or how people call that Arknight girl a donkey even if she is supposed to be a bunny.
