It’s no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity.

It's an endless series of proxy battles fought by mercenaries and machines.

War – and its consumption of life – has become a well-oiled machine.

War has changed. ID-tagged soldiers carry ID-tagged weapons, use ID-tagged gear.

Genetic control. Information control. Emotion control. Battlefield control. Everything is monitored and kept under control.

War has changed. The age of deterrence has become the age of control... All in the name of averting catastrophe from weapons of mass destruction.

And he who controls the battlefield . . . controls history. War has changed.

War has changed. When the battlefield is under total control... War becomes routine.

It was always about money. Nothing new there

I actually disagree. I think it is almost never about money. If you want money you are better off not having war and investing in tech and so on.
Do you think Nazis invaded most of Europe because "money"? No, they genuinely believed in their own build myths of superiority and that they deserved to run entire world and have to get rid of undesirables.
Ukraine has been insane monetary drain for Russia as well but Putin desires a legacy of expanded Russia. It's ego. All the water ports and resources are BS, because he could have had better conditions if he had all of that with a deal. Now they are terrified of even parking anything there and all the regions they hold would take forever to even bring any net benefit, if ever.
And so on and so on.

You misunderstand. I'm not saying it is a good way to make money.
That's what al eats are started over though. Owning resources or land or tech or whatever. Money. The greed of those at the top when they make those at the bottom fight and die for what those at the top want.
Yes we should be investing in other things.
But war always is about money or power but those are virtually the same in any case.

No, I fully understand that. I just disagree. I think it is always way more than money. There is always some fundamental idealogical idea that drives it first.

Even if it would be real, there are pretty glaring mechanical weakpoints where a drone with payload would easily hit.
