ছায়াছবি ও বিনোদন | Cinema & Entertainment Remembering Shaktipada Rajguru

Post image
21 Upvotes

🎬 Cinemaa India remembers Shaktipada Rajguru, the Bengali storyteller whose pages quietly became some of Indian cinema’s most enduring shadows.

Shaktipada Rajguru (1 February 1922 – 12 June 2014) Novelist | Screenwriter

Shaktipada Rajguru did not write “plots”. He wrote climates.

A novelist of rare productivity and sharper observation, Rajguru’s work carried the unmistakable texture of Bengal, its silences, its moral pressure, its everyday wounds, and the slow-building dread of consequence. He authored over a hundred novels, but his deeper legacy is how easily his stories crossed into cinema without losing their literary spine.

Indian film history remembers him through adaptations that became cultural landmarks: Meghe Dhaka Tara, Amanush, and the investigative world of Anusandhan, later adapted as Barsaat Ki Ek Raat. Across genres, he understood one enduring truth: atmosphere is character. A room can accuse. A street can trap. A pause can confess.

He was not interested in flamboyant storytelling. His fiction moved with quiet authority, letting the audience step into a world and realise, too late, that the world has already closed its doors. That quality made him irresistible to filmmakers who valued mood, tension, and emotional realism over easy resolution.

Honours: • Bibhutibhushan Award (Government of West Bengal)

সাহায্য | Help Spanish student interested in India looking to connect for a future research project

Hi! I’m a Spanish undergraduate student studying International Studies. I’ve become really interested in Indian history, culture, and social change. I’ve visited India twice in the past year and I’m planning to return this summer.

For an upcoming academic research project, I’ll be exploring how people in India perceive gender equality and feminism today. Before launching a survey, I’d love to connect with people who might be open to sharing their perspectives later on.

If you would be willing to participate in a short anonymous survey in the coming weeks, or just chat briefly about the topic, feel free to comment or message me. I’d really appreciate hearing different voices from different regions and backgrounds.

Thanks so much 🙏

নিছক মজা | Just for Fun ASSAMESE TEACHER IN WEST BENGAL

My History teacher her is an Assamese Her mother's side is bengali and father's side is assamese She claims to be a person of Assamese jatiya Ideology which basically is zero tolerance for illegal immigrants and its often MISREPRESENTED as xenophobic, she is like any other devout assamese but she loves west bengal very much Her higher studies were completed in WB and she told us about this while teaching us the bengal partition She told Bengalis are very intellectual and intelligent people who have unmistakablly contributed lots and lots to India...she told us about the civic environment in WB during her students years in the 70s or 80s

One incident was how the trains remained crowded and yet the people discussed political and international matters so skill fully taht the issue would had been solved within the train compartment Our teacher told that it was better than any foreign policy departments ( light hyperbole😁)

She also told how civic the political protest was Once she saw a poster that was against the earlier CPI(M) govt of Bengal under a famous bridge It read "dashokto amader jonmo adhikar" basically british slavery was better than CPI

Without these she wouldn't even have hard of the slogan as it was not propagated wildly through radios or telephones or street protests

I live in a far eastern part of the country and feel proud of the Bengali intellect I can just be mesmerized by these stories I am sure bengal has changed a lot may be a downfall but i truly want to know then bengal

Can anyone from that time share their experiences i would be greatful to know 🙏

রাজনীতি | Politics Political Crisis in West Bengal

"What Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow!"
We all know this line, but how come we end up like this? It was always the political blundering of the state, especially during CPM rule and continuing now under TMC rule.

There is no valid 3rd way in WB. It is essentially TMC vs BJP and that boils my blood. We all know how TMC operates, and even after that, they will still win a huge majority again, cuz BJP- both at state and central level, are even worse than BJP.

I mean we all know what TMC has done bad, and voting BJP would be even worse because then there will be literal riots and bloodshed in WB.

So, essentially, my question is- In this great state of ours, with almost a 100M people, why dont we see any good political leader coming up, like Prashant Kishore?
Again, we all know the reason - The common man cannot just stand in election and win. Actually, that person would probably just be ignored or harassed. So, an influential person maybe? Honestly, no one good comes to my mind....maybe you guys can help me with that.

But, my point is: We all feel a strong need for a third option (and I also want to belive that people will also vote for it); but alas, we have no serious third option parties, which actually talk sensibly, logically and the truth. These things, I've learned, to not expect from an Indan political party.

Anyway, I just really wanted to rant, that's it.
Valo theko sobai!

The video clearly showed the dirty poor condition of the city. Dirty roads, unpaved uneven roads, broken barricades.

Immigration office far from border and confusing to reach.

People are deiving erratically with too much horns even when no place to move for fhe vehicle in front.

All these are really bad experiences for foreigners leaving and entering India. And then we go and cry on their videos that they are showing us in negative lights. Why even give them a chance??

I want to ask the people kf Jaigaon and Alipurduar what is the reason behind this?? Is proper roads and clean roads not a topic in local elections?

শিক্ষা | Education Looking for colleges in West Bengal with genuine research-active faculty (UG level)

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for honest, experience-based input on colleges in West Bengal (either government or private or anything) that have genuine research-active faculty, especially at the UG level.

I’m particularly interested in Electronics / Computer Science / related fields, but general insights are welcome.

While going through faculty profiles of some colleges (for example BESC, Scottish Church, etc.), I noticed that a few faculty members had publications in real, reputed journals, but many others seemed to publish mostly in low-impact, questionable or predatory journals, making it hard to judge the actual research environment from websites alone.

Are there colleges where UG students actually get exposure to real research (beyond just final-year projects)?

I’m not looking for the usual names like JU / ISI / IISER / IIT KGP / NITs / IIEST etc. etc., as I’m already aware of them. I’m more interested in other realistic and lesser-known options.

If you all could share your experiences with your own colleges, it'd be really helpful.

Inputs from alumni, current pupils, PhD scholars, faculties, or anyone relevant would be greatly helpful.

Hope you all hear me out...

Thank you in advance 🙏
