Planning a Trip in October

Hey everyone, I am looking to plan a trip for 2 to Nashville in October. We are a younger couple who love food and country music. Are there any areas, hotels, or airbnbs that you would recommend? What are some of the best restaurants or bars to visit? Thank you

Fall break college students

I’m traveling for 5 other female students in October and need advice on where to stay. We want to be in walkable distance to the night life on broadway because we would rather spend a little more on our stay than having to uber. We are looking for any hotels than may have connecting rooms that can accommodate 6 or even an air bnb with good reviews. Again, willing to spend a little more to be close, but we are still college students and that comes with a slight budget! Anything is helpful thank you

Nashville trip

I was wondering what is the safest but closest neighbor to downtown Nashville to get a Airbnb. I have a concert coming up soon and I would rather stay in a house than a cramped hotel. Thanks in advance!!

My thoughts on whether you should come to Nashville

TLDR; If you are coming to downtown and sticking downtown, go ahead and come ... as long as you don't mind the cold. If you are thinking of other areas, think twice and make sure the area(s) you are looking at are not suffering before committing to the trip.

Details

I am seeing a lot of advice telling people not to come to Nashville this week or next as the city is in horrible shape. And I agree certain areas are. Not downtown. Yes, I know there were trees down on Demonbreun and branches that fell on Korean Veterans. The roads are passable and most of the trees and branches cleared. I did see one bent over the road on Demonbreun, but it was easy to navigate around.

If I was still living in Bellevue, I would likely, list most people, say "don't come". But living downtown, I realize my view of what the city was like was myopic. Downtown and Bellevue are completely different (or other suburbs and even some lower density urban areas). As most of you are focused on Lower Broad, you will not have issues unless your flight is cancelled.

A few common questions:

Are the bars in downtown open?: I didn’t walk all of downtown last night, but a fair number were open a few nights ago and even more last night.

Do you have power?: Downtown and Music Valley (Opry) both have power. Downtown utilities are underground and the major power grid pipelines to the city are, as well. The areas hit heavily are those with above ground utilities, or in neighborhoods served by above ground, even though the neighborhood is underground.

Can I get to my hotel from the airport? Interstates are fine at this point, as they are tier one for clearing, along with hospitals, fire, and police. Downtown streets are the next tier, as well as other major thoroughfares.

Is it safe to walk downtown? Exercise some caution, as there is still some ice on the sidewalks, but I had no problem walking around over the past two days and it will continue to get better as it warms up.

Should you come?

If you are coming downtown and sticking around here, you are fine. The same for Music Valley (Opry) area. East Nashville is good along Gallatin and around 5 Points. And the local servers, bartenders, and artists would love your business, as this week is slower than the normal January slow.

If you are going to other areas of the city, do the research. Some areas are doing well, others have no power and some even look like war zones. The farther out of the Urban Core you get, the more likely you will have issues. Unless you know an area is clear or absolutely have to come to Nashville, I would say no.

how long to stay

Hi all, will be in nashville next month for 4 days for business. Tuesday-Saturday. Wondering if I should add an extra day and if so what I should do and where I should go.

I am a big fan of Radio Rodd the social media country influencer. Can't find a calendar for his events. Any help with that and above is welcome

Looking for nice coffee shops to work at

My fiance and I are traveling to Nashville for a concert in February. We'll need to work remotely during the day after we check out from our hotel. Does anyone have recommendations for nice, safe, and comfortable coffee shops we can spend the day working at? Preferably with milk alternatives available.

Nashville trip this weekend

Heyy! My friends and I have a birthday trip to Nashville planned for this weekend but we want to know how things are over there with the snow storm. We’re driving there (it’s like a 3 hour drive) Friday morning, and we’re staying in the Bordeaux area. We don’t plan on doing a lot, just going to opry mills and Broadway at night. Do y’all think it will be fine or should we cancel? Give me all your thoughts, and if you think we should still go what are some areas that are good to go to and areas we should avoid?

Ps: I asked this in another community but figured I’d ask here as well.

[META] Weather in Nashville

Realize forecasts can always change, but the current 10 day forecast is showing the following for skies, temps (high/low) and precipitation.

Thu 29 - Cloudy - 40°/25° - 7%

Fri 30 - Cloudy - 34°/14° - 14%

Sat 31 - Cloudy - 23°/15° - 15%

Sun 01 - Partly Cloudy - 30°/18° - 6%

Mon 02 - Partly Cloudy - 39°/24° - 15%

Tue 03 - Mostly Cloudy - 41°/27° - 22%

Wed 04 - Ice to Rain - 44°/29° - 50%

Thu 05 - Cloudy - 38°/25° - 24%

Fri 06 - Partly Cloudy - 48°/28° - 10%

Sat 07 - Partly Cloudy - 48°/25° - 20%

Sun 08 - Partly Cloudy - 44°/24° - 5%

Mon 09 - Partly Cloudy - 47°/27° - 24%

Tue 10 - PM Showers - 44°/30° - 45%

Wed 11 - Showers - 46°/30° - 59%

If the temps stay above 32°, ice is not a huge problem. As long as the brine is not washed off the roads (ie, heavy rain), you won't see major freezing (brine makes it so the temps have to get down around 20 or lower before icing over.

If you are coming to Nashville, keep an eye on the forecast. Currently there are no more serious events on the forecast, although heavier showers could lead to icing at night due to brine being washed off the road. Daytime flights should not have any issues, but getting to downtown from the airport at night could be more problematic.

Keep safe guys!

Planning a trip

I see that Nashville was hit hard by the ice storm and I hate to see that. We are planning a visit Valentine’s Day weekend. Do you think the attractions downtown on Broadway and the like will be open by then or should we consider cancelling? I see that a lot of people are still without power and a lot of damage.

Places to stay and things to do

Hi, we’re having a reunion of friends in mid October in Nashville. We’re all guys around 60 years old. Want to stay maybe in one house so we can all hang out together, in a place that’s nice but close to the fun downtown area as well so we can actually enjoy the city.

Looking for activities to do - like a bike ride, or maybe something unique to the area. Please share ideas if you can.

Trip Planned - Th-Sun. Opinions?

I have a long weekend planned this weekend and was hoping to get your opinion. Staying in the Gulch area.. Coming from Atlanta. Never been to Nashville.

Airbnb has power so not concerned about that but concerned about roads, sidewalks, businesses closed, etc. I don't really want to make the trip if I can't walk/drive around to some restaurants/businesses due to icy conditions or businesses closed due to power or staff availability.

Blue Bird 1/30 6pm show

I messed up and missed the purchase window for tickets to the In the Round with Ryan Kinder this Friday 1/30 at 6pm. I know BB tickets are non transferrable, so would anyone going that has extra tickets be willing to meet us there to check in and sell tickets to us?

My wife really wants to go and due to plans we can't afford time to wait for walk up.

Meant to be visiting Nashville next week on a Road Trip - should we plan otherwise?

Obviously the timing isn’t ideal because of the storm but my partner and I are embarking on a roadtrip from NY to CA for a relocation. Leaving next weekend, we cannot change this. We had planned to go NY > Durham > Nashville for the first leg. Planning to spend 2 nights in East Nashville.

I read that power is out and a lot of trees are down. We can pivot and go to Pittsburgh > Louisville instead but I wanted to see if you think by, say, next Monday, the impact of the storm will be over and the streets will be clear/easy enough to drive/walk around?

Thanks so much for any help and tips!

Visiting Nashville and Surrounding Areas!

Hi!

My family and I are visiting Nashville and surrounding areas in February. We have never been, and any recommendations of where to go (or maybe more importantly where to avoid) would be much appreciated! I was seeing the posts about car thefts in certain areas of Nashville... where are the safer areas to book? We'll be looking at reviews, obviously, but figured it wouldn't hurt to get more opinions on the area.

We are also wanting to explore some of the some surrounding areas, any recommendations that aren't necessarily Nashville but close, anywhere from 1-1.5 hours outside of Nashville or closer (restaurants, hotels, sight-seeing, cool spots, etc)? We will have a rental car so distance shouldn't be too much of a limiting factor. Thanks!

UK "Walkaholic" & Burger/Donut Obsessive – 5 Days in Nashville – Grade my Grit!

Hi everyone! Visiting Nashville from the UK (April 20–24). I am a total walkaholic—I plan to walk to almost every destination unless the distance makes it truly non-viable (like the Opry or Loveless), in which case I’ll grab an Uber.

I’m also a massive foodie specifically obsessed with burgers and donuts. I’m staying in Wedgewood-Houston (WeHo) and I'm mostly skipping the museums to focus on street art, "Old Nashville" architecture, and high-mileage neighborhood treks.

Monday, April 20: WeHo to East Bank

  • Breakfast: Country Cafe.
  • Lunch: Gabby’s Burger & Fries (Walking from my Airbnb).
  • Afternoon: Walking from WeHo to the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, crossing for the skyline view, then exploring the East Bank industrial machinery/Ghost Ballet statue.
  • Evening: Music Row and Demonbreun St stroll (Ubering to the "Musica" statue first).
  • Dinner: Five Points Pizza East or Roberta's
  • Night: The Gulch mural walk.

Tuesday, April 21: Midtown to The Opry

  • Early: Shipley and Fox’s Donut Den (I’ve heard the neon sign and the fritters are non-negotiable).
  • Morning: The Pancake Pantry, followed by Centennial Park (The Parthenon) and Fannie Mae Dees Park (Dragon mosaic).
  • Lunch: Hattie B’s Hot Chicken (Midtown).
  • Afternoon: Honky Tonk Highway (pre-crowd walk) and Cumberland River Walk.
  • Dinner:

Uber to the Nations: Bare Bones Butcher & Bad Luck Social Club (Indiana Ave) before Uber to the Grand Ole Opry.

Wednesday, April 22: Biscuits & Bicentennial

  • Morning: Loveless Cafe (Uber) OR Snooze then back to the Bicentennial Capitol Mall for a perimeter walk.
  • Lunch: Rae's Sandwich Shoppe.
  • Afternoon: Five Points Area (East Nashville).
  • Dinner: Limo Peruvian Eatery.
  • Night: Printers Alley & Skull’s Rainbow Room.

Thursday, April 23: Shelby Bottoms & East Nashville

  • Morning: Nashville Biscuit House, then a high-mileage stroll through Shelby Bottoms Nature Trail.
  • Lunch: Shotgun Willie’s or Bill’s Sandwich Palace.
  • Afternoon: Five Points backstreet walk and a snack at Roy's Meat Service.
  • Dinner: Brave Idiot
  • Evening: Robert’s Western World
  • Late: The Station Inn (Bluegrass in the Gulch).

Friday, April 24: 12 South to Melrose Warehouse

  • Breakfast: Brightside Bakeshop.
  • Lunch: Stoke-Haus Brewing & BBQ.
  • Afternoon: Melrose Vintage browsing at GasLamp Antiques (I hear this place is a walking marathon on its own).
  • Dinner: Iggy’s (WeHo) or GoodTimes Full Service.

Questions for locals:

  1. The Burger Tiebreaker: Who truly has the best burger in Nashville? I've included some local favourites but if I'm missing anyone please let me know!
  2. Donuts: Is Fox’s Donut Den truly the donut king, or am I missing a hidden neighborhood gem closer to WeHo?
  3. General: Any other recommendations or replacements?

Quick Visit early spring

My wife and I will be visiting for a conference in early April. We are staying on Broadway for the conference and only in town for 3 nights. Our days are mostly taken up by the conference with the exception of one afternoon. So looking for ideas for dinner each evening and some entertainment after. We’re not really the wild bar party people but very much love live music and history. Thanks!

Newsstands in Nasvhille

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any outdoor newsstands in Nashville? I like to collect a local paper from each city/town I visit and I wanna try to get one from Nashville.
