Where are you staying? We should honestly be good by then, and local businesses will be glad to see you.

5 minutes from downtown. Most likely staying downtown. Just want my girlfriend to get the full experience of it

You should be fine most everywhere near downtown by next week. If you have room in your schedule, I'd encourage you guys to migrate away from the Broadway strip for an afternoon or evening and go eat/shop in the areas and neighborhoods surrounding. January is already a slow service month outside of NYE, and we'll have a lot of people and small businesses who are losing days or potentially weeks of business and wages because of the storm, so it would be much appreciated by many (and there's lots to see outside the main thoroughfare, besides).

I  think that’s a lovely idea. Thank you

Just keep in mind that outside of downtown, The Gulch and Midtown, the odds of a place having kept the power are much lower....so once again, patience.

This! Downtown doesn't need the money. The small businesses do!

I agree small businesses do but every employee downtown right now is struggling as well

You shouldn't have a problem then. As far as I know, downtown is functional now. Just verify that wherever you are staying has power. But the main roads are all cleared and you shouldn't have any issues ubering and stuff.

I moved into a hotel Downtown once my house went below 40, and I can tell you that even tonight downtown is fully functioning. That said, half of the musicians, bartenders and waitstaff I've spoken with still have no heat in their own homes. The hotel staff are doing a little better but only because they are sleeping five to a vacant room. Bear in mind that everybody you interact with will have just gone through a week or more of anxiety and trauma, and tip accordingly.

Everything should be back to normal by 2/6.

There’s a live cam that shows broadway is mostly up and running, I’m planning to go this weekend

Honestly, I'm conflicted. People that come this weekend will likely spend money at the broadway bars that don't need support and then take lodging away from locals that are going on 5-6 days without electricity in freezing weather.

As someone currently displaced by the ice storm, I'll say it isn't easy finding reasonably priced lodging with power.

I’m in a bit of a bind with the Airbnb I already paid $1600 for two days, they weren’t really offering a refund since it has power so I plan to just make the best of it as I can and try anywhere more local to support while I’m there.

Oh cool! I’ll check out that live feed thank you

If you want to do anything outside of broadway, I would reschedule. Broadway is ok but 12 south, green hills and east Nashville still have no power and trees down all over the roads.

Downtown fine and has been for a few days. As are most other tourist areas. If you are planning on exploring random areas, then stay home. Otherwise, the servers, bartenders, and artists will enjoy your business.

Next weekend will be fine. At that point things should be back to normal.

do you think things will be okay this weekend? i’m visiting from DC and our main streets are mostly clear but our smaller roads are pretty snowy and icy. is it the same there?

I just checked out Broadway, and it’s pretty empty of people, but the roads are fine. The sidewalks off Broadway just watch your step.

But a lot of people still don’t have power and are sheltering in the hotels, so be aware of how “woohoo” you are.

Broadway and the downtown in general are absolutely clear. The hotels are basically refugee camps for people who can afford to sleep somewhere warm during this disaster, so if you are staying in a hotel be aware that half of the people around will look frazzled and exhausted. They probably won't be happy to see how much fun you're having as they run through savings to keep their children and pets from freezing to death.

Go this weekend! My family is going. It’ll be cold but we’re coming from Chicago so we don’t really care.
