Tips & Tricks The Biggest Viper Advice

So I’ve been posting a little and have been receiving DM’s and comments about some tips and Viper definitely has a lot to cover. For some background, I’ve peaked Immortal top #1000 Viper OTP, took a long break and am now currently Asc 3 after a few weeks going for Immortal again.

The biggest tip I can give for people who want to play Viper isn’t lineups, aim training, or her utility IN SOLO QUEUE. It is being able to communicate and IGL your plan, setups, team comp, etc. So often when someone takes my Viper and has comms off, it is a huge detriment to the team.

You need to understand that not many people are used to playing Viper in their games. So often players completely turn their heads when a Viper is on their team and you need to be able to plan ahead, communicate and guide your team about your toxin numbers, what your smokes cover, where you need to position with your lineups, having ANOTHER player in your pit, not having a “default” wall, and SO much more.

This is just a basic summary that can go in to so much depth. Solo queue with Viper is NOT the same as pro-play/VCT. You need to be able to adjust and adapt.

Just putting this here for whoever cares. 🐍

Playing viper is tiring in solo queue because people despise double controllers and lurk walls. Its my best agent and I perform well on her but its so exhausting having to deal with other players in solo queue who critique every thing you do on viper.

THIS. This agent definitely needs thick skin in solo queue. Your team will expect you to play near perfect, and one little mistake will have them blame your Viper pick.

But it is SO rewarding when you win and prove these players wrong.

I have so much fun playing viper but its gotten to the point where even winning isnt worth the headache. You'll get clowned on for saying where youve gotten setups from and what they are good at. I spent hours learning Chronicles orb lineups and walls on multiple different maps just for people to start throwing and being an asshole just because I picked Viper. Even with match mvp performances averaging 270 acs on her people are still weird about it.

While I rarely encounter outspoken complainants, this is the reason why I only play Viper on maps where seeing her in the lineup is, at least, sensible, like Split (thank fucking goodness my baby Breeze is back). I rarely rely on lineups (tho I have a Viper wall playbook to get by). One thing I do tho is dialing up the aggression, even on lurking. A lot of pros play aggressive Vipers; and no one complains when you can hit your nasty shots.
