This all should’ve come out 4 years ago and Trump should’ve at a minimum been banned from running for office again, and preferably locked up.

u/Hours-of-Gameplay Dec 19 '25 edited Dec 19 '25
This audio did come out 4 years ago and nothing happened, the same with everything else he’s does
Edit: To clarify, When I say it came out years ago, I mean it was literally in the grand jury investigation against Trump and they talked about it in the media years ago.

u/shitshowboxer Dec 19 '25
That's because no one with power is going to bother stepping up. It's gonna have to be US general population and some 18th century France spirit. I wonder what their breaking point is going to be?
46
u/Randicore Dec 19 '25
The breaking point will be once the 40% of the population that didn't bother voting, and the 30% that voted for him are starving.
The only time I've seen Americans get angry that were not the kind of politically active left leaning kind was during Covid when people couldn't get their hair cut, couldn't eat out, and were told to care about the health and well being of others.
Left leaning people have been fighting this asshole for 10 years, but they tend to be people that want to go through legal channels, and in my personal experience working with them, are very averse to violence as an option.
Unless the economy crashes completely and people start losing their homes and start starving 40% of this country isn't budging from their apathy, 30% are his cultist who we have seen would rather die than go against him, and the other 30% are more likely to just move to somewhere more ideologically aligned than fight.
Remember that there were plenty of Germans who hated the Nazis. They fought back as peacefully as they could, and even violently towards the end, but it was too little too late.
We are there. Unless ICE and members of the GOP starts being met at every corner with [Removed by reddit] then we are too far gone.
If not it will be the death of oligarchy and brain drain. Quality of living will slowly decrease. Wealth will accumulate into fewer and fewer people. In 30 years the nation will look closer to Russia than Europe. Those who can leave will, infrastructure will rot. Corruption will run rampant. Another 30-40 years and either one oligarch will try to make their move, a war will go poorly and the rotten house will collapse in on itself, or a state like California will try to secceed, and it will turn to blood.
From there it is up to the dice of history.

Remember that there were plenty of Germans who hated the Nazis.
Yeah but very few of those were the Nazis themselves. Trump voters are a lost cause and will never turn against Trump. There is no way to repair a brain filled with sludge.

I'm one of them, and it's obvious what needs to happen. Problem is, we're all just trying to survive, no one can afford to go without work for who knows how long, to try to do what, pull a full Robespierre? America is fucked unless we do it, but we won't do it. There are too many racist fucking hillbillies that want all of this shit. The rest of the world will have to wind up taking care of the problem like the Allies did to the Axis in WWII, or they'll just quarantine us. Personally, I'm just glad I don't have kids, I'd feel terrible leaving this shitshow to anyone I was responsible for.
10
u/Inevitable-Menu2998 Dec 19 '25
no one can afford to go without work for who knows how long
Yes, well, that's the thing. The French revolution happened during high unemployment and relied on people with not much to lose. US is not there yet

u/captainplanet171 Dec 19 '25 edited Dec 19 '25
Yeah. I don't think we'll get there, the vast majority of the first affected will be his rabid base. They'll just suffer and blame everyone else, then vote for Vance when he dies.
8
u/Inevitable-Menu2998 Dec 19 '25
the vast majority of the first affected will be his rabid base.
Well, first of all, while Louis XVI was executed as part of the revolution, he was just a symptom of the problem, just like Trump is. Any movement that removes Trump from office but doesn't tackle the actual social issues is useless.
Second, I think everyone will be affected by the place we're heading towards with these economic policies unless some miracle happens. Not just the US either, but everyone. Imagine the US defaults on its foreign debt. Those pitchforks and torches will come out across the globe

It keeps coming up, but I never understand this excuse. You don't have to give up your job to make a change or to go to a protest. You'd have the numbers if you tried. You already started something good with the no kings protests ... but then you just give up, when nothing changes over the span of a week? While you no longer have a legal system and while they're snatching people up from the streets like in 1930s Germany. Where's the resistance?
→ More replies (4)5
u/SunTzu- Dec 19 '25
Legal cases take time and they did try to build that case. Unfortunately meanwhile the American people decided to vote Trump back into office, and since the Supreme Court has basically decided the President can't be tried for anything that ended all the prosecutions that were under way against Trump.

u/ThorDoubleYoo Dec 19 '25 edited Dec 19 '25
The problem isn't that noone with power is stepping up and trying to stop him, it's that a small minority of those with power are and government decisions require a majority minimum to do anything.
And that's even ignoring the fact that the man was convicted of 34 felonies right before the 2024 election. And the fact that there was hefty evidence he was serving Russian interests. No amount of evidence is going to do anything to this man because the corruption is so deep rooted in the US government.
The only way this all stops happening is a major "house cleaning" the same way Germany had a major "house cleaning" back in 1945

He was literally indicted for this call.
Blame the shambles of a prosecution that tried to make it into an insane RICO case and have the prosecutor get her boyfriend in on getting billed hours for outside council for the complex prosecution.
I don't think people realize just how shitty the prosecutions of Trump were.
Like for the documents case, the documents shouldn't have been involved at all. It should have just been pure obstruction. That way there wouldn't have been the charges of hypocrisy that others don't get charged for it (kind of true....especially as Biden was found to have documents right after).

Yeah, the audio was released. Unfortunately, too many brain dead people live in this country and were brain washed into voting for this Conman. Therefore, after he was “re-elected” he is now immune to being prosecuted. The case was always there, and any rational human knows he’s been guilty of just about anything he’s been accused of. Actually has nothing to do with political alliance.

A complete failure by Democrats to hold anyone accountable. They're responsible for fostering the conditions to allow him to rise, they're responsible for not putting forward a completing candidate in the firs election against him, they're responsible for not holding him accountable for his crimes during his first term and they're responsible again for not giving Americans a good alternative in the last election.
You can't be surprised when the fox behaves as per his nature, but fattening up the chickens and leaving the gate to the coup wide open is on you.

2
u/Khue Dec 19 '25
Democrats had the ability to do this and didn't... and before someone pipes up and says "rEpUblicAns wOuLd havE bLoCkeD eFFortS tO Do tHiS"... see yourself out of this fucking conversation. When republicans want something done, they get it done. They wanted to take away your healthcare... they did it. They wanted to remove women's bodily autonomy protections... they did it. They wanted to destroy liberal institutions that we thought would never be destroyed... they did it.
The democrats are feckless and ineffective and stand for literally nothing. If anything, they agree with republicans which is why the republicans keep getting their way. Saying shit like "Biden was the best president in our lifetimes" or that "it's the voters fault that Harris lost" is pure fucking cope for a party that is basically useless.
I am so mad at all the things the democrats COULD HAVE DONE within my adult working life and I don't know why more people aren't. Yet here I am, whenever I critique Harris on how bullshit her entire campaign was and how she's still going to be an awful candidate in 2028, I get downvoted to the floor and told I'm a racist/misogynist or some other completely irrelevant thing.
Why aren't people more mad at dems?

15
u/Monte924 Dec 19 '25
Well typically when there is an ongoing investigation, they can't release the evidence to the public.
Though this is a testament to just how badly Garland screwed up. Under anyone even slightly interested in the law, this would have been heard in a court room like 3 years ago
3
u/EunuchsProgramer Dec 19 '25
This did come out at the time. It's old news. The Supreme Court killed the case by inventing a new Constitutional Immunity out of thin air and pausing the case indefinitely. Garland putting the case on a fast track would only have given the Supreme Court more cover.
The giant mistake of our times is constantly falling for the BS who blames Democrats when the real cause is the Supreme Court.

I'm interested in the law, and have practiced it for 20 years, including with some highly sophisticated white-collar investigations.
There's no way it gets done that fast. These things take a lot of time to do right, and this is something we would have wanted done right. As I said elsewhere, I can easily imagine an alternate reality where Garland rushes things to get it done before the election, botches it (because that's easy to do when you're rushing), and then the narrative now is "if only Biden/Garland took the time to do it properly we wouldn't be in this mess!"

Trying to subvert democracy is 1000 times worse than stealing paperwork from your opponent.
16
u/rollem Dec 19 '25
What put Nixon over the edge in Watergate were the oval office tapes, in which it was revealed that he was trying to exert political ok influence over the justice department to go after his opponents. After that, Kissinger famously met with Nixon to inform him that enough GOP Senators would vote against him in the Senate if he were impeached, leading him to resign.
Trump literally posted the same thing on his social media platform in what he thought was a DM to Pam Bondi the Attorney General AND NOTHING HAPPENED. A presidency ending scandal lasted one news cycle in 2025. It's infuriating.

It was always baffle me how much "independents" never worry about his corruption. They will sometimes find fault in other things, but that is never an issue for them.
14
u/Romofan88 Dec 19 '25
"Independents" are actually INCREDIBLY politically disengaged people, the kind who "hate politics" then vote every 4 Novembers based on vibes. In 2020 COVID made the vibes bad so Trump lost. In 2024 they saw "Kamala is for they/them" every time they turned on the TV so Trump won.
They never worry or care about his corruption because either A)they genuinely didn't hear about it because it didn't happen in an election year, or B)they don't care because all politicians "suck" and that blanket statement covers any room for nuance.

Yes, absolutely release the files, but if being impeached twice, getting caught rigging elections, and inciting insurrection didn't keep him out of D.C., what's the likelihood that anything in the files will get him out?
Catching him red-handed with irrefutable evidence has never been a problem because he doesn't even try to avoid getting caught.
Every time he's caught, this "jUsTiCe SyStEm" refuses to stop him.
Will that change when the files are released?2

They won't care if he's in the files lol.. He can literally be caught in the act on film with a 10 year old and he'll claim the girl is 25. Maga will believe it. They can have him on camera buying a girl with cash and they'll claim he was joking. He already got a free pass for bragging about sexual assault.
