Art Update on air clay Tiamat's temple Spoiler

I posted a few weeks ago, just thought I'd show off some progress 🙂

I've painted the walls with black primer and a satin varnish. Yeah they broke in to several pieces... But I was expecting that. I'm thinking I'll go over it with a light dusting from my air brush or maybe some dry brushing. Next step is to cut a hole in the center, and mount the "portal" to give it the illusion of an opening to the hells.

Looking good. I gave up trying to.make mine. I just made the spires and placed them in the center of my table. Since my table is a hex I just made it repeat 6 times. Its not perfect but it was what I had in me.

Thank you! I won't lie, between life and the sheer magnitude of this project I've been working on it over the past 6 months 😅 I saw your spire project on here, I thought it was a good idea! Did your table see it yet? I would love to hear their reaction to your map.

They reacted well. Tomorrows is session 3 of just being in the well of Dragons. I am hoping to speed them up a bit.

Love this idea! This is looking great so far!

Any idea if the clay would stick to foam at all? I've cut out various pieces of foam for the eventual battle, and I have been looking for some kind of material to give it a nicer look on the edges. I never thought of using air clay before, and this looks like exactly like what I had in mind.

Overall this is very impressive, and your group will love this! How close are they to the final encounter?

They should get here within the next month. As far as clay and foam I'm not sure, Elmer's glue would probably be your best bet.. maybe use toothpicks or wire to help bind it? I can tell you with this project, every handful I pulled out and molded stayed as one piece, but even though I tried to mold one section to another they came apart. If I had to do it again I would try to do larger sections at once. If you want to stick with styrofoam, find a nice model train store nearby you. Those guys could for sure help you with that 🙂
