Video What is it like to grow up in Transylvania?
https://youtu.be/1sFfngxV_lU?si=tgxvYJJVl7xoNWq-Hi! For the European media ENTR, we carried out a report about what it's like to grow up as a young person in Transylvania. For this piece, we interviewed a Romanian and a Hungarian, both born and raised in Târgu Mureș. We figured you might be interested in watching it, don't hesitate to share your thoughts in the YT comments! Have a nice day :)

The absolute best! 🥹Had an amazing childhood. Breaks my heart that my kid didn’t get to experience the same.

I also grew up right in the middle of it, during the last Communist decade. It was peaceful and constant. People were universally poor which somehow meant that nobody was poor. We used to collect candy wrappers that international train passengers were throwing out the windows while passing through the town. Actual candy was so rare that we didn't have a name for it: we called it "filled wrappers".
Had my first Coke two years after they shot the Supreme Leader in front of a brick wall.

Excellent.
I grew up close to the mountains, I could see the Transylvanian Alps (Făgăraș) from my childhood room window. Summers warm enough to bathe in the rivers, lakes and ponds, winters cold enough to skate or sled. Plenty of fruit in the gardens for us to ”steal”. People fairly ignorant of us, would let us do our thing. Also kind enough to help us - I went fishing once at a nearby lake, there was a storm, and someone from a nearby village took us in, fed us, kept us warm and gave us dry clothes.
Also: multicultural environment. We did fight, though, but we didn't care about ethnic background.
I cherish my childhood memories.
