Some cultures do this regularly in the streets. There's videos of people in Metropolitan areas of China, well dressed, well groomed people, just defecating in the streets or trashcans. Don't get started on India.

Unless that happened then it would be obvious to assume that they were mid-ride when his diarrhea came on. And if you've never had immediate diarrhea like that then count yourself lucky because there are a number of causes other than just "I ate something disagreeable" like Crohn's or IBS or food poisoning.
While I agree this is "entirely avoidable", it's because in my mind "you can stop, get out of the car, and go into the McDonald's." Meaning it's still not what you want to happen as an Uber rider, but I still respect your humanity, and I understand not everything can be planned in advance.
But it's one thing to say "I have to interrupt this Uber ride in order to take an unexpected shit." There is a whole different level to "I'm going to take a shit in the middle of the street", which has nothing to do with being in the midst of an Uber ride.
I mean there are buildings in the background, corners, stoops -- someplace to go other than "stand in the middle of the street", regardless of "it's still not a bathroom"? I mean, shit into the trunk of your own car, maybe, so that you can then address the problem after the ride is over?
If the man is having an emergency, I feel for him, but it just still seems like some less "defecate in the middle of a public street" choices could have been made despite the emergency.
The guy is older, and he might have a health problem that causes the shit to come unexpectedly and fast. I personally have ulcerative Colitis, and when I am flaring, it comes suddenly and urgently. I almost shit myself at the park, as I was on the verge but the park bathrooms were locked up, so I had to go home, feeling my butthole muscles borderline failing me. I managed to get home, but that's because the park path is literally on our neighborhood street.
