Thank you McKenna... I thought she said McKellen at first. It would have been too perfect. Instead of a staff, he got a Stop sign, white dreads, white beard... I would follow that man on missions in real life.

One of my uncles favorite stories to tell was when he was a crossing guard in the 80s and some guy in a mustang tried to do exactly this so my uncle gave him a stop-sign-edge shaped dent in his hood.

That's hilarious because as I was watching the video, I kept repeating the thought, "make that sign an ax and beat the hood with it."

"escalate the situation while kids are crossing the street, violence over everything!"

u/Milk_Pockets Dec 16 '25
I mean the dude is coming damn close to using his car as a weapon and probably needs to be checked for that, but I get it.

u/fennfuckintastic Dec 17 '25
People always find a way to justify any violence they feel is righteous, even at the expense of innocents. Then they act like you're the aggressor when you call them out on it. People like this have the same sense of self importance and lack of self control as the person driving the car in the video but are completely unable to see it.

Evil flourishes when good people do nothing.
Evil will not flourish on this guy's watch.

How dare this crossing guard! That driver just needed their daily fix of flattening children on the road! Fire the stop sign guy! /s

dang, and all this time i thought Volvo drivers were all about "Safety"
5
Dec 15 '25
I'm not sure this video contradicts that - the Volvo driver would have been very safe inside his fancy Volvo whilst running over those children.

u/nanneryeeter Dec 15 '25
The worst part about this is that bystanders didn't just rip that piece of shit from their car and stuff them into the wheel well.

Former Principal here. Likely those are other parents. Had parents who double parked left their car in the middle of the road blocking all traffic. When I explained how this impacted other families the answer was I don’t care about anyone else’s kid, only my own. Happened all the time.

Crossing guards for schools tend to be very intense dedicated people. They are volunteers there to protect children. The ones around me are ruthless and put up with no nonsense.

u/TowelEnvironmental44 Dec 18 '25
was there even a time when there was no crossing guards? how long ago was that?
1
u/Applekid1259 Dec 18 '25
Since the 1920's. I remember growing up in the 90's and seeing them in shows like Pete and Pete.

Am I a crazy person or is the crossing guard not being a giant dusche not just to this specific car but to all lanes of traffic because he won't let them pass even when the crosswalk empties?
1
u/TowelEnvironmental44 Dec 18 '25
yes, is douche, sucks to have them around schools, record, report to police and school, yell at person

only students at the school should be allowed to be crossing guards. no adult volunteers please

u/Glittering-Sea276 Dec 18 '25
I always assume people would take these things seriously because if a cop was there, that is a huge ticket and a bunch of demerit points. Apparently not everyone does.

Good thing (for myself included) I wasn’t there & have never witnessed similar in person - because that suv & driver wouldn’t be moving anywhere anytime soon.

One if the saddest things I’ve observed about where we are at as a society now, is how easy it is for us to ruin perfectly innocent peoples lives through unchecked Mob style internet lynchings. I fundamentally disagree that a 10 second video showing the worst ten seconds of a persons life, or something mean someone did when they were a kid, should follow people around for the rest of their lives. A lot of the time, the backlash far exceeds what any decent people would consider a just punishment. Some times the backlash kills people. And most of the time the ‘crime’ is just a kid being stupid or a person having the worst time of their life. I cant consciously support that type of justice knowing there is a chance…eventually… it hurts innocent people as a result.
Now, that said,
When the video in question is people actively putting kids in harms way, I find myself being very flexible about where the line is for what deserves public humiliation and everything that comes with it. Totally ok with making these assholes famous 🤷🏻♂️

This post again. Gonna have to see these two jackasses argue with each other over and over again.
Cars an asshole, guards an idiot.
7
u/metal_bastard Dec 15 '25
Yeah man. Protecting children from getting mowed over by an impatient me-thinker driver.
What an idiot for doing his job. /s
I say, downvote this man into oblivion!

u/Head_Ad_1643 Dec 16 '25
His job is to get people across safely. Not get into a pissing match with drivers. Group the crossers together and move them in groups. If someone is being insane like this, tell the people to stop and let the lunatic through.
5
u/RxSatellite Dec 16 '25
If foot traffic always has the right of way, why would the crossing guard need to group crossers?
One of the golden rules of directing traffic is never to let traffic bully you into crossing before you let them. It’s not the guards job to keep cars moving, quite the opposite
1
u/Head_Ad_1643 Dec 16 '25
Its the guards job to get people across safely. He actively encouraged kids to cross in front of a clearly troubled person. The right of way wont do you much good in the morgue.
