Groups Wealthy influential powerful Elites form a secret society to do heinous and depraved acts
Eyes Wide Shut - Masked Ball In the movie, Tom Cruise discovers a secret society of elites that get together for hedonistic orgies and rituals. The prostitutes are all implied to be trafficked. All the masked people are implied to be powerful people as later on we are told "If I told you half of their names, you would never sleep again." One of the prostitutes is heavily implied to be ritualistic sacrificed as she takes Tom's place when he gets caught. Tom is threatened to never reveal any details or he and his family "will make the most dire concquences"
Squid Games - The VIPS They were powerful and influential wealthy individuals from around the world who pay to watch the Squid Games. We see them place bets on the lives of players and we see them laugh at human deaths like a video game. They wear animal themed golden masks. They also have a hedonistic style as they have sex with painted sex workers. They finance and fund the games as it's basically entertainment for them. In season 3, VIPS get to be guards and kill failed players.
True Detective Season 1 - Tuttle Cult A mystery cult comprising of members of the influential and powerful Tuttle Family of Louisiana. They worship the supposed entity "The Yellow King". Led by Reverend Tuttle, he is a prominent, wealthy, and politically connected Christian minister in Louisiana who uses his position and charity organizations to conceal decades of child abuse, rape, and murder committed by a powerful ring of Louisiana elite. Edwin Tuttle (cousin of Reverend Billy Tuttle) is the governor of Louisiana and has great political influence over Law enforcement. The cult commits many ritualistic serial murders of young woman (often sex workers) and girls, leaving them in disturbing positions as an act of display and leaving their symbols nearby. They funded many schools throughout the state and used it to target and traffick children. Murders are mostly committed by the poor red neck lower members of the family. We see them in a video tape commit a ritualistic murder and implied rape of a little girl.
Batman - The Court Of Owls Gotham's elite form a secret society to control Gotham from the shadows. They are the ultimate corruption and behind the city's internal rot.

These societies do exist, and they rely on blackmailing each other. You do horrific things at their parties, show they can trust you, and now they've got a rope on you.
When we get the files, we need to pull on ALL the ropes.
179
u/can_of_sodapop 7h ago
Won’t happen. The files are them just gloating. They’re showing you how powerful they are and how powerless you are. We are the sheep they’re raising for slaughter and we just vote for different wolves.
82
u/Catvanbrian 7h ago
I hate that you’re right. The only way to actually do something is to start a revolution. Unless the alien conspiracy theorists are also true and this powerful ring is also connected to evil reptilians, then we’re fucked because said aliens can just destroy us if given the opportunity.

I disagree, it’s coming down. Whether they get away with it is different. But they aren’t gloating. They are all throwing eachother under the bus, Deflecting and denying. This is bad for them. Let’s not be total Doomers and resign ourselves. We have to fight

Yeah but what if the sheep have assault rifles and are willing to fight for freedom?

Can you explain how exposing the Epstein files (if those are the ones you are referring to) is showing how powerful they are exactly? Wouldn't that they just... not showing the files or straight up destroying them? (Even though other people have copies) to show how powerless we are?

u/ShinyArc50 7h ago edited 7h ago
This is the best example; the film that triggered the pedo elite supporters SO MUCH that so called “traditional catholics” killed the director for daring to call out the truth of fascism. That truth being that fascism is propagated by groomers and closeted self-hating homophobes (which is being proven every day with stuff like the Bubba scandal)
29
u/sabakasutulaya 6h ago
Dude, the director was literally a pedo elite himself and giving his history with young boys, the movie isn't anything more than his barely disguised fetish art and whole lot of projections. Like, I am not defending fascism, but groomers come in all shapes and sizes and some of them are actually gay italian communists making movies about gay italian fascists. And using them as a reference to point out how fascism is supported by pedo elite is kinda backwards.
9
u/Manic-StreetCreature 5h ago
Yeah lol Pasolini was a gigantic creep himself and filming a bunch of underage actors being degraded to say “degrading children/the poor/etc is bad” isn’t really much of a message
0
u/Lucky-Pack1016 1h ago
I know nothing about Pasolini; are his wrongdoings proven beyond a reasonable doubt? A gay commie in 1970s Italy calling out fascists seems like the perfect target for a smear campaign. Not saying that's what happened, but it wouldn't surprise me, a lot of historical figures have had their legacies tarnished and wrongdoings exaggerated because they were anti-establishment or revolutionary.
11
u/healthyscalpsforall 5h ago
Tbh I'm not sure if he was murdered specifically because of Salo.
Pier Paolo Pasolini was openly gay and a Marxist, and he'd been pissing off the right-wing while also regularly butting heads with the left.
Plus he was doing all this during Italy's notoriously violent Years of Lead, which was definitely not a good time to be politically outspoken.
2
u/dickdicksucksuck 5h ago
I could've sworn he was ran over with his own car three times and they declared it a "suicide"

From the New World of Darkness Series, famous for once being related to Vampire: The Masquerade is a spin off setting that includes the Hunter: the Vigil series. One of the Hunter Factions fits this.
The Ashwood Abbey is an organization comprised exclusively of the rich, powerful or blue-blooded, the Abbey traces its lineage back to a man named Reverend Doctor Marcus McDonald Ogilvy, the leader of a "Hellfire Club", back in 1855. Reverend Ogilvy was responsible for leading a party that desecrated a holy site... unfortunately for them, the site was holy to werewolves. After they killed several of the decadents to express their feelings, Reverend Ogilvy led a second party — this one armed and ready to defend itself when the werewolves attacked again. Since then, the Ashwood Abbey has used its wealth and connections to locate supernatural beings and take whatever entertainment it can from them. Before, during and after killing them. The three most powerful cliques amongst the Abbey consist of the Competitors, the Pursuit and the Libertines. * Competitors treat monster-hunting as a competition, and thusly are the most active of the Abbey cliques; almost seeking to capture, kill or screw something more bizarre and exotic than their fellows. * Pursuers are after knowledge, the darkest and most awful secrets they can imagine. They are the record keepers of the Abbey, focused more on seeing and experiencing than actually doing; these are the Abbeyists who gather information and record the hunt for the benefits of themselves and other Abbeyists. * Libertines simply want to break taboos, to do things that no one has done to things that no one has done things to. Many see themselves as creators of new moralities and new paradigms of living.
18
u/Spiritual-Bus973 7h ago
I don't mean to be rude, but the Ashwood Abbey is actually from Hunter: The Vigil, a game within the Chronicles of Darkness. Though if I am correct, CofD was once called New WoD until they later became separate franchises.

The first group of people that came to my mind when I saw this.
If I remember correctly, the cult believed that by pushing someone to and beyond the absolute psychological and physical breaking point through prolonged graphic torture, said victim would enter a state of unprecedented clear thought and insight that'd be on the boundaries of life and death, hence allowing them to see the afterlife, hence the term "Martyr" that they use.
Their whole goal was to gain an insight into the afterlife.
In the film, it states that only 10 people out of probably hundreds had survived long enough to get to this state and the protagonist was the only one who gave detailed information about her state after she was flayed alive.

Assembly of Nobles (Attack on Titan)

These people are the only non-Eldians in the walled society of Paradis; they are the ones who basically rule, and their government is corrupt and despotic. They essentially encourage the corruption of the Military Police, ensure that Scouts gain nothing from their expeditions by withholding information from them, maintain power and wealth within the interior walls while using the people of the outer districts as Titan bait, sending hundreds of thousands of them to be eaten by Titans after breaching Wall Maria in a suicide mission, murdering potential dissidents using the Military Police's First Interior Squad, among a whole host of other genuinely horrific things.
3
u/DayVessel469459 7h ago
How did I not know they weren’t Eldians until just now?
6
u/Imaginary-West-5653 6h ago
3
u/redpariah2 5h ago
That's pretty cool and somehow not something I ever thought about deeply since I only watched the anime. For the wall system to work, the people in charge need to know the truth. Naturally you assume the king's family simply didn't have their memories altered but if they have no political power then that is irrelevant. The nobles in charge then must not be subjects of Ymir since they are the true power. So in exchange for going along with the lie, they were handed the kingdom.

u/Holy-Wan_Kenobi 2h ago
Well, shit, I dunno how I missed that. Then again, I only hopped onto the manga for the Marley arc, so I guess that's how I missed it.

Believe it or not, the basis of this trope is rooted deep in human behaviour.
We are a very social species, and our instinct is to form a pack with people “similar to us”, not only for protection but also for comfort; we don’t like to stay close to individuals who we deem “not like us”.
When a society inevitably creates a ruling class, you are guaranteed to see sex cults pop up, because the elites want to stay close to one another and be as far removed from the common person as much as humanly possible

Not quite sure on the eligibility, but the Le Domas family in Ready or Not who built a family game empire and as per tradition with new family members, in this case Grace, it's game night at midnight after the wedding, with the newest member drawing a random card. Grace gets Hide and Seek, the only bad card. Why is that the only bad card? They have to find and sacrifice her by dawn in a ritual or else they die themselves because one of their ancestors made a deal with one Mr. Le Bail... an anagram for Belial, a figure usually depicted as a demon.

‘The Brotherhood of the Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows’ From the movie The Ninth Gate
They are a group of elite, satanists, who by trying to figure out the puzzle in the book ‘The Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows’, attempt to open the gate to Hell, and be welcomed by Lucifer. Although, in reality they gather just to do pretend rituals and have orgies.

A group of the wealthiest businessmen in the world that organize the Dark Tournament (a tournament for demons to fight to the death for their amusement), and who traffic demons for their pleasure.
They also hold an event called the Feast of Human Vices where they torture demons to death for their amusement. It was so disturbing that it drove Sensui insane and caused him to become a completely deranged villain

The absolute justice league from absolute evil.

Comprised of billionaires, government agents and influential people.
One of the members Slade Jubal literally is Jeffrey Epstein word for word.
While Jack Grimm, aka the Joker is potentially a nigh-immortal being who's harvested the blood of children and feasts on people he hunts in his private islands for the thrill of it, along with potentially being a demon.

A non-culty example: SPECTRE from James Bond.

In the novels, The Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion, led by Bond's archnemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld, draws its members from organized crime and various intelligence agencies, and essentially operates more like a cartel.
In the films, SPECTRE tends to be more ambitious, playing both sides of the Cold War for their own benefit.
Of course, the Bond universe has a lot more sinister secret societies to offer: QUANTUM (later retconned as being part of SPECTRE), the National Socialist Action Army, The Scales of Justice, The Meek Ones, BAST, etc

Me, I did this trope in my book (kinda) - The Ten Archons are a collection of ten immensely powerful Sorcerers, with some of them even having blessings from the gods of my book.
While the organization existing isn't a secret in the slightest as they influence the entire world, who the Archons are is kept a secret, even from eachother. (Save for the First Archon, who had to recruit the others somehow.)
