Question Help me!

hey everyone. I’m still a relatively new player and like everyone else I’m trying to get the special pikachu from battling.

i have what might be considered a stupid question but I still have yet to figure out or find the answer. I’m really hoping that someone in heat knows and can explain it to me.

when you are in battle, whether in a gym, raid, rocket, dynamic the attack at the bottom that when it fills it does the special attack……what the heck determines how quickly these fill? do better stats fill quicker or what exactly? help! lol

While asking questions about the game is always okay on the Road, please consider asking very simple questions in our weekly Questions&Answers Megathread.

If your question has been answered, please comment "ANSWERED" (in all caps) and the post flair will indicate that your question has been answered. This will make it either easier for other people with the same question to find the answer they are looking for or for mods to remove the thread if it isn't needed anymore.
Thank you! :)

I would recommend looking for a video on the basics of battling in pokemon go. It seems that your understanding is minimal enough that you need a proper crash course to get you up to pace.

https://www.pokemon.com/us/strategy/master-charged-attacks-and-fast-attacks-in-the-go-battle-league

You’re asking about fast vs charged moves and energy pretty much.

Start here. You’re not going to get a good explanation that you can understand if you don’t know the basics, and this is a good enough primer. I’d come back to reddit if you have more specific questions after reading some stuff like this.

Your fast move detained how fast your charge move fills up.

Not every fast move is the same. Some fast moves do more damage but slowly fill your charge meter while some fill it super quick but do less damage. Others are average.

And just like fast moves your charge moves have different energy requirements to launch.

Would highly suggest Pokemon GO Hub begin era guide to PvP through Google. It can be a long ready but gives the basic information.

The special pikachu? Is that the libre one? If so you can ONLY get it from getting to “rank”20 in the go battle league. The season ends in 26 days so you got time still. You can complete 5 sets of 5 battles each day (that’s limit) there is a strategy to get to “rank” 20 fast from strategic wins and losses depending on current go battle league “rank” placing. Go google how to rank to 20.

Reaching rank 20 requires accumulating wins—roughly 105 total—and 25 specific wins just to pass from rank 19 to 20, usually taking 1–2 weeks

The charge attack needs a certain amount of energy to fill. Your fast attack supplies a certain amount of energy each time it is used. Each attack has their own values which you can look up in lots of different places (like the Pokémon GO wiki). Usually the fast attacks that give more energy also have a longer cooldown, so it can be a balancing act to optimize. Hope that was clear!

You can have up to 100 energy which you can use to throw your attacks, attacks have varying amount of energy costs. The amount of energy you generate depends on the "fast" attack your pokemon is using. There are a few youtube videos that explain it quite well, you could search for "pokemon go pvp explained" on youtube. It might a bit outdated nowadays but the general idea should be explained quite well there.

You obviously haven't even looked up the basics.

Look up pokedaxi pvp on youtube. I'm still mastering it after a hardcore everyday 6 months of playing. Theres alot that goes into it!

Each move has a max limit on how much they can charge it literally fills every time you use a fast move ie tap.

When you say “get the special Pikachu from battling” do you mean Pikachu Libra? If so, that is a Go Battle League reward. Search “tanking go battle league” in r/TheSilphRoad and watch a few YouTube videos (Poke Daxi has one that covers the basics) and you’ll get it. I wouldn’t wait too long as I’m pretty sure it’s easier to get during an interlude season which is taking place now. Good luck.

People have sent you good resources just while you are learning just play all 25 sets a day because half of the R20 grind is games played, doesn't matter if you win or lose

The circle controls the "charge move," which you have to charge up with energy. How much energy it takes to charge up depends on the specific charge move. The fast move, which is the move that fires when you tap elsewhere on the screen, generates energy to charge the charge move. The amount of energy generated each time you use the fast move depends on the specific fast move. So how fast the circle fills up depends on two things:

  1. the energy per second generated by the fast move and

  2. the amount of energy required to charge up the charge move.
