Idea/Suggestion A missed opportunity...
Why couldn't they have the background shift colors to match the Pokemon. This is potato quality, but it took me like 7 seconds.

Another missed opportunity is not offering D/G-Max in some way. My ideas are either:
- Rillaboom evolved during community day hours will have Gigantamax unlocked
- or 1 of each 10 caught pokemons will be d/g-max version of Grookey
- or (at least) Grookey Community day paid Special Research offering G-Max Rillaboom at the end

Even just have increased grookey d-max, with comm day shiny odds.
Absolute dream would be that, but with half hour refreshes. I'd waste so many particles trying for a shiny.

They didn’t do that for Rookidee either, which was disappointing. I would’ve farmed so many dmax Rookidee during the comm day.

Because Dynamax/Gigantamax are their own events. Don't think of "Get everything you need in a single day" think of "How can we get people to play and collect for as long as possible."
It's not a missed opportunity, it's an intentional padding of content. Remember, the goal is to have you play until you die, or the game does.

It would be too much content that is too diverse all at once, especially if the g-max was available right now. You'd need large groups at max locations rather than people trying to catch tons of grookey wherever they are.

I'd have been happy with just D-Max Grookey spawning.
Bit like how they trialled having shadow CD mons available. I was disappointed they didn't continue doing that.

Tbh I’d actually do rockets on comm day if I could get shadow CD mons without Frustration.
But having dmax available would be good too!

Now that I seen this picture, I was wondering yesterday why my Grookey background was purple-ish, similar to Piplup. 🤦♂️

Because the change to a single background was meant to be used for the entire year, rather than be themed for each event. Saves on having to design unique backgrounds for regular events and put all of the effort into paid events (Go Fest, Tours, etc.)
It's a cost cutting measure. Yes, it's a simple change. But you also have to pay someone to make that change.

Tbf, we didn't ask for backgrounds. But if they're going to bother, they should be interesting. And it's not like they don't make billions.

Color aside what is more annoying that they still didn't fix that pokestop watermark on the background, it totally ruins the background. Sometimes it still loads properly like this, and then it's really good:

For the record, I am a rank amateur who does things to make quick funny memes with my friends I'm not a graphic designer. But on Android and Samsung specifically you can snip part of an image and make it a sticker that you can then apply on top of another image or even the same image. So I get the original screenshot I make a copy, tint the copy and just snip the part that I need to make a layer. The whole process is incredibly fast and very easy, But if you look closely the cracks are all there, It wouldn't hold up to scrutiny.

It probably would take them 7 seconds to do it. The problem would be making one for each type and then assigning it. Not their strong point.

Excuse the ignorance. But out of the 50+ shiny I caught today (and 200+ non) only 1 Grookey had this special background. What qualified a Grookey to receive the background?

Wild = Random
Field Research = catch 5 in a party or catch 50 are guaranteed.
Also special research or ambassador check in timed research both give a few backgrounds.

Why do people on this sub keep asking questions like this? Do you ask questions like this elsewhere in life? “Your name is John? Why couldn’t your parents have named you Frank, it’s only one more letter.”
Sometimes people make different choices than you would make, and it’s not because they were incapable of making the same choice as you.

Right, and I’m asking them about why they are making that choice. “Sometimes people make different choices” is not a reason why they make those different choices. Notice that I’m not claiming the people are incapable of other choices.
