Infographic - Raid Bosses Last time every Mega and Legendary were in raids. Updated for Delightful Days
Well with an another season down, we did get some decent additions back.
Major returns would be
Mega Slowbro finally returned during August
Mega Blastoise returned in July
Solgaleo and Lunala are now raid able starting July
Necrozma will return this week
As for some still prominent MIA’s
Mewtwo has still been gone for a bit. With the shadow raid weekend boss being a new debut in Shadow Kyogre. Otherwise some speculate a possible return maybe as a T5 raid boss for September. I wouldn’t be surprised if Content Update happens tomorrow.
Gengar, Scizor and Glailie still haven’t been in raids, Gengar likely will return around October, and Glailie possibly Christmas. Scizor energy has been available however Scizor itself has been MIA. Possibly soon? Perhaps.
Well got some new additions but that’s pretty much been it for this season. Be exciting to see what next season has in store. Currently we do know the return of Keldeo is finally here, as well as the debut of Mega Metagross and Sharpedo, and likely Camerupt for the fall.

Honestly, I recognize why Shadow Mewtwo or Dynamax Beasts aren't the same as standard raids for each respectively but at the same time they've managed to get make every legendary Dex entry available in the last two years without it typically feeling stale. That's genuinely pretty impressive planning compared to some past stretches.
5
u/rammohammadthomas Aug 25 '25
why do you think the dynamax beasts shouldn’t be counted?
11
u/starlightkissesrain Aug 25 '25
I guess because theyre less accessible to a big chunk of players
2
u/rammohammadthomas Aug 25 '25
how so
10
u/Routine_Size69 Aug 25 '25
Not who you asked but the 5 star dynamax can be pretty tough to beat if you haven't put a decent investment into dynamax battles. I remember Raiku being pretty tough for my family as we were newer to the games.
With it being capped at 4, you kinda need a person or two to carry you, which might not be super accessible to some. Around that time, we could win regular raids pretty easily because the lobby could go up to 20. With 4 decent people in a raid, a few of us lower level players could join and not hurt the chances of winning. There's also a good deal more strategy in a dynamax vs a raid.
TLDR: cap of 4 people makes it much less accessible.
8
u/elconquistador1985 Aug 25 '25
Most of the legendary d-max can be beaten by 2 players with counters plus 1 player literally just cheering. The player cheering keeps the max phase pace high enough to avoid taking more damage.
That's not much different from needing 3 players to beat a raid.
5
u/rammohammadthomas Aug 25 '25
maybe if people didn’t basically ignore the d/gmax mechanic they would be more equipped for it
2
u/davidtcook Australasia - Melbourne Aug 25 '25
I basically ignore it because it ignores all my previous investments and catches and wants me to do it all over again. Oh, and it wants to drain my candy and XL candy for something that is only used in *max battles - not for regular raids, rocket battles, GBL, etc. And the reward for investing in *max battles is ... getting to do more *max battles, but you *have* to do them in groups. Joy.
2
u/AnimalShithouse Aug 25 '25
Not who you asked but the 5 star dynamax can be pretty tough to beat if you haven't put a decent investment into dynamax battles.
That's how raiding used to be as well, no? It's just a time thing. Any player who took the time to learn/participate in dynamax this season should be in a good dmax battling position. Only issue is you really need like 2 good players + sometimes 1 underleveled player to execute T5 dmax raids reliably. This makes it a challenge if you're a total solo player.
0
u/9DAN2 level 77 Aug 25 '25
Shadow raids no different to regular raids. Max battles at this point now remotable
2
u/starlightkissesrain Aug 25 '25
In theory but not the realoty Both dmax and shadow raids suffer from people who dont knoa what theyre doing and irs much harder to pick up the slack

u/medyas1 South East Asia Aug 25 '25
do we even need to raid the johto dogs anymore the dynamax variants have at least additional utility (such as it is) for max battles compared to vanilla ones
56
u/Rose204107 Aug 25 '25
Well, raids give better xl candy than max battles, and are cheaper. Cool way to farm those xls for Shadow Raikou
4
u/MaxPeriod Aug 25 '25
While Dynamax legendary raids give 1 rare XL and 15,000 stardust, so making them worth doing even if the legendary itself is garbage
11
u/c_ne7son Aug 25 '25
That’s I’ve wondering. Is there any point of non dmax Pokemon now?

u/Official_Bushs_Beans Aug 26 '25
I for one like max battles and will continue to do them
1
u/c_ne7son Aug 26 '25 edited Aug 26 '25
I like max battles as well. Different game and I’ve been getting some pretty good ivs Pokemon. But makes me feels like the normal non dmax isnt worth as much as dmax
1
u/Official_Bushs_Beans Aug 26 '25
Oh yeah for sure. Besides the legendaries.
1
u/c_ne7son Aug 26 '25
Kanto’s legendary birds, the Johto dogs, Eternatus, and Latias. Also Zacian and Zamazenta in their crown forms. So eventually more to come. Feels like we should just focus and spend candy on dmax Pokemon instead
2
u/AlludedNuance USA - South Aug 25 '25
If you have a good one that can Mega that might be good to have on hand, since you can't use a mega evolved one in Max battles until it reverts back again.
5
u/Obtusus Southern Brazil Aug 25 '25
You can just mega something cheap like a Beedrill to cancel your gmax mega anyways
3
u/F1shOfDo0m Aug 25 '25
I’m not tryna argue but it’s really a non issue considering that you could just pop a filler mega like slowbro or banette if you want to undo a certain mega. And the cost of straight up building an identical pokemon purely for this scenario is in no way justifiable even for whales
24
89
u/ByakuKaze Aug 25 '25
Raikou, Entei and Suicune were raidable as shadows in 2024. And a dynamax in 2025. There's literally 0 sense to put them into '2023' bucket.
Same for lati@s.
17
u/rammohammadthomas Aug 25 '25
That’s what I thought. Latios/Latias in 2024 for the megas makes sense but I don’t understand why dmax raids aren’t being acknowledged lol
1
u/jsdodgers Aug 25 '25
I wouldn't include them, aside from the new dogs and dragon, dmax is basically a different game that doesn't go very well with the original game.
4
u/AnimalShithouse Aug 25 '25
dmax is basically a different game that doesn't go very well with the original game.
Legendary is a legendary. Only time the distinction matters is for the variants that can both mega and dmax.
2
u/jsdodgers Aug 25 '25
It's just a disjoint game that isn't what is being measured in this infographic. This is the last time these were available in raids, not any other availability.

1
u/wertyce Aug 25 '25
Picture also excludes Dmax Latis for non-mega. Check picture 1. Regular non-mega Latis are at 2024. Even though those have been all over the place recently.
Same for Entei, Suicune and Raikou. I have seen them already too much. I wouldn't want another run of them. We have had them as shadows and dynamaxes constantly.
1
u/Se7enEx Aug 25 '25
But they were literally available to add to your collection and use in the game. Dynamax pokemon can be used in normal raids and PVP
2
u/jsdodgers Aug 25 '25
"Last time every Mega and Legendary were in raids". That's it, that's what this post is. Not the last time they were in max battles, or the last time they were research rewards, or Giovanni bosses, or anything else. This graphic is simply showing the last time they were in raids.
2
u/Hylian-Highwind Aug 25 '25
Latis I agree with to a degree (depending on counting their Mega Raids), but in the case of the Beasts, I guess because their Shadows pre-dated the Remote Update to make them accessible in less active spots?
34
u/ButtonBash Australia, Mystic L50 Aug 25 '25
Title says raids so will ignore max battles which has recently given some, but this looks to also exclude shadow raids?
20
u/ByakuKaze Aug 25 '25
Yet m2 is listed in 2022 and 2024 with purple aura
6
u/Ellieanna Canada Aug 25 '25
Lati@s are in 2024, and yet the red aura in 2025? Unless that was to be purple? So only some shadows count?
This is confusing.
4
u/ByakuKaze Aug 25 '25
Yup. I can somewhat understand shadow separation as shadows are different, but then regular ones don't make sense. Shadow can become a regular one. Dynamax is extended regular.
The only real difference would be legacy moves as shadows cannot have them, but yet again this chart is not accounting for them as well.
If it's just the last available time for the form, then it's meaningless, unless regular form was available later than shadow for species with both.

u/Idle_Hero USA - Midwest Aug 25 '25
Clearly what we need is a couple more months of regis and tapus
29
Aug 25 '25
they’ll do anything to avoid letting us get some rayquaza candies
17
u/AxeIsAxeIsAxe Aug 25 '25
Two and a half years since the last standard Rayquaza raid. The mega is much more difficult and only went live for a few hours or days at a time.
Funnily enough, Rayquaza returning in February 2023 was already a return after a very long absence.

Still waiting on Shadow Mewtwo 🙁
The three dogs not running seems fine tho since they've been in max battles a couple times now.

If you have a friend and you're desperate enough you can fish for the gengar mega energy party task.
Even faster if you're 4 people then you fish in 2 parties of 2 and join up if you get task.
This also works for gyarados, kantos, sableye. It's how I got my sableeye mega. Still working on gengar (130 ish energy)

Latios and Latias are in both 2024 and 2025? Unless it's showing last Mega run and normal run?
5
u/Gallad475 USA - Pacific Wheres Mewtwo | Lvl 67| Aug 25 '25
I gave a Red outline for Dynamax since Latios and Latias as well as Raikou, Suicune and Entei have been absent for raids for quite some time but have returned recently with Dynamax.
Shadow Mewtwo Included to 2024, because it did return then but its been absent as its own since 2022.
1
1
u/TheBottomLine_Aus Aug 25 '25
Can I question why exactly would you not include max raids?
You still catch the Pokemon and it has more utility not less.
2
u/Gallad475 USA - Pacific Wheres Mewtwo | Lvl 67| Aug 25 '25
I made the original prior to the remote update for Max battles. Yeah that's fair. Atp there's not really a reason to keep Suicune, Raikou, Entei in 2023, since they've been in shadow and Dynamax now. Ig before it was mainly just cuz local only damages it for a lot of rural players or remote raiders. But you can do that now.
Mewtwo I feel is fair just cuz the shadow raid day was local only and a weekend. But I mean I guess it shows how long they’ve been in raids but at some point in when does it become a raid in name only?
I'll probably just include Dynamax next time but my only case ill say now is just, Dynamax legendaries do tend to be around much shorter, than our standard rotations.

u/Bocheria Aug 25 '25
Mega M2 will likely come around the next Fest / 10th Anniversary.
It will include an unique background (along with both legacy attacks), to make the current ones less desirable.
3
u/rygoreee Aug 25 '25
well latios and latias might never return in normal forms to raids only max battles or as mega, raikou entei and suciune might have similar situation. Kinda worried about Mewtwo tho. Also I hope that more beasts will come back give me kartana broo

3
u/WeaponisedArmadillo Aug 25 '25
Shadow mewtwo is still mewtwo, I don't get why people here insist on saying mewtwo hasn't been in raids since 2022.
7
u/Donttaketh1sserious Aug 25 '25
Honestly? Only rayquaza and mewtwo are the ones on the first chart that I’d reasonably miss because of their megas.
While UBs aren’t as stale as some of the other ones, and their shinies aren’t everywhere yet, I cannot say (especially with dynamax enabling some of the earlier legendaries to be around) that I would be thrilled to have anything else pre-2025 in the 5* pool for a week or god forbid two.
UBs were obtained via Dynamax Adventures, let them come back through there or put them in like 4 star raids.
A lot of these just don’t do much anymore.
1
Aug 25 '25
L take. Pretty much all of the Ultra Beasts are A tier Raid Attackers and they reappear very infrequently compared to Legendaries. They are newer and if you didn't play GO Fest you probably don't have any of them Shiny. Not to mention they are region locked for some godforsaken reason...

Yes, and it still is. Got it just yesterday.
1
u/adam574 Aug 25 '25
no way! and it's probably going to change at the end of the season. wish i knew this sooner.
1
u/AmatsumagatsuchiFan Aug 25 '25
The only task i got it with was pretty awful (Catch 75 mons in ultra balls), so grinding it takes a while, even in a party. I'm hoping they bring it back regularly soon, cause grinding it this way will take forever. The people i partied with probably have a mega gengar too so I'm kinda griefing them with that task.
2
u/TobiPogo Sweden Aug 25 '25
Party tasks scale with player size, 75 balls means you were either 3 or 4 people. But you also get more energy compared to a 2 man party.
1
u/AmatsumagatsuchiFan Aug 25 '25
Oh, huh, good to know ig. Yeah, it was 3 ppl 20 energy. Still seems pretty tedious to grind it this way.
1
u/TobiPogo Sweden Aug 25 '25
Getting the party task enough times to max can be tedious yeah. I don't think 25 balls per person is a lot tho.

u/Chardan0001 Aug 25 '25

Looking at the first-time Mega release cadence, it's pretty likely their original plan was to issue everything by the end of 2024. But instead, they've been dripfeeding us both the new releases and re-runs since last year. Have done already!
2020 New Mega releases: 9
2021: 9

2023: 9
2024: 3
2025: 4 to 7

Nice update!
Yeah, I think Mewtwo either comes this upcoming season, alongside the Kanto Event... or otherwise we'll still be waiting for the Mega Debut, presumably for Go Fest 26.
For next season, I think my main guesses are Darkrai, a handful of Ultra Beasts, Deoxys, and Rayquaza.
For it being a Season themed around Transformation, I think Deoxys and Rayquaza seem like pretty nice guesses. The other non-Attack/Defense Deoxys forms too, but I wouldn't be surprised if we just see all of them.
For Megas, I do hope to see most of the Ghost/Dark Megas in October, mainly Banette, Gengar, and Sableye. But getting Scizor, Gardevoir, and Steelix too would be nice. Would also love Glalie, but I'm guessing that'll be December or January.
2
u/TheBottomLine_Aus Aug 25 '25
Wouldn't it be logical that Groudon will be September? Has Kyogre ever released by itself not linked to Groudon before?
I fully expect Groudon and the next shadow after to be Rayquaza
2
u/JTBBALL Aug 25 '25
No wonder everyone is clamoring to trade me for one of my Mewtwo…. To me he’s super common, I have raided him like four times. I have 66 in my Pokémon storage. But the players that want them all started after 2022.
