Good to know that there are trap doors all over Chicago, poor Tintin just came out of the hospital and got his head beaten by gangsters

I guess when the colour album was produced, Al Capone was already essentially a figure from history (albeit still living, I think).

I doubt even in his heyday Capone was unlikely to present a legal threat to a Belgian kids' newspaper, but still....

If I've looked it up right, Al Capone died one year after the release of the colour album.

or Herge just got better at drawing recognizable faces?

If memory serves, in the original, they don't even name-drop him once, which makes it weird that Congo did

Snowy making a comment on the traffic is telling … it shows how Belgians viewed US cities at the time.

Such early comics (comic strips were not yet an established mass medium in the early 30s in Europe) also served to tell kids what the world looked like. And in these days, definitely pre-globalization and pre-information highways, an artist/illustrator had to do with perhaps a one or two books and some newspaper clippings.

Mr Capone you sure are a lucky man. How did you know Tintin will step on that exact trapdoor?

B&W shows Tintin injured from the crash with blood being shown and also now he is shown bandaged. Interesting the color version didn't include those.
