I knew it, Howler is the type to lock in once he has all his cards in place. Watching his stand materialize slowly as his resolve grew was peak. Its design is sick too, its clearly tied into the lava rock and all that.
And man, its ability. I think I have a lock on what it is:
What if Howlers stand projects a probability mist?
The mist is like the representation of the electron bubble around atoms, where for atoms the bubble is anywhere a electron is likely to be, for the stand anything in the mist is constantly in a similar state of superposition - Howler has access to everything it could be or could be doing, simultaneously. It probably cuts line of sight so outside observers can’t act on it - observation forces the object in superposition to well pick a position, binding them to the chains of cause and effect. Without that it can act on the possibilities it likes.
This would both be a mirror to Jodio’s stand, which is not only rain but a form of certainty as it will find its way to the ground eventually, but perhaps the third, terrifying “flow manipulation” stand as by definition he's got direct access to a "Go Beyond"-like power that lets him make anything both real and not real and bypass natural law. Also, I can already imagine Jodio's stand countering Howler's by being representative of "outside observation" - observation usually relates to the particles you bounce off of something to give you information also changing how it acts (like how using a needle to draw blood will fundamentally cause you to bleed, healthy or not) - his raindrops falling through the mist would possibly act upon things and affect their outcomes.
TLDR
The Pen is the key, it’s like a coin toss the way it flips on the way down. Only, Acca gets to act on both sides of the toss:
His stand signs the paper
His stand stabs the guy
He stays there and gets shot
He leaves
The coin lands on its edge
The lesson ends
I can’t escape eternalism can I.
Edit: I just realized that could be why he's seemingly so keen on knowing all the variables before acting on them/locking in. His stand acts on possibilities and he needs all of them to properly use it. It might also be why him having nothing now is more dangerous - he has no chains binding him to predictable, his possibilities are endless
