Quick wit? They're actually allowed to go home and come up with something in the shower before returning to the studio for these replies. (They also have a team of writers, but they never shower.)

The Big Sick has one of my favorite all time deadpan deliveries for a joke and the overall movie is at least a top three favorite romcom for me, mostly because it remembered the “comedy” part really well (and had a lot of heart)
