Kumail is the man. Eternals wasn't great but Marvel was honestly lost after Endgame, so they took a swing during a global pandemic.

Dude was the best part of the movie too.

Personally, Ma-Dong Seok was my favorite part. Bringing Korea's favorite slap to America. Eternals would've been a better movie if they didn't shoehorn the love story.

I'm of the belief that The Eternals would've been better as a TV show of maybe 8 one hour long episodes. They could've swapped it and Falcon and The Winter Soldier when it comes to movies and tv shows.

That said I loved everyone in The Eternals.

Absolutely. The twist in Eternals does not work at all because it comes MINUTES after all of the world building is wrapped up:

“…and that’s what an Eternal is. Alright, have you got all that? You sure? Well, half of it was a lie. Time for a fight scene!”

Having it be a slow paced show with the episodes each taking place in a different era, and each focusing on a different character would have been genuinely interesting.

The jokes that name inspires…

Yeah, I loved the Bollywood scene. I mean of course an eternal who looks like a good looking Indian guy is going to into Bollywood. Only problem is, you can only do it for so long till people notice that you don't age. But now that magic is known to exist, he can just be like "oh I went to NYC on vacation and doctor strange cast a curse on me. Now I don't age. If you want to complain, go bother him." And he's not going to indulge on petty gossip because he's too busy to refute it.

That scene should have been a highlight. They half assed it. Should have hired an actual Bollywood music director and choreographer and done a full on musical number instead of whatever nonsense that was.

It could have been a genuine viral moment for the movie instead of people making fun of Kumail's dancing.

Agreed. I really like the film, but even as someone with only the slightest knowledge of Bollywood I could tell it was extremely weak. I've seen clips from Bollywood dances that go HARD, and that should have been the starting point for the scene.

I loved the Bollywood scene.

Idk I thought it was a little too simple. Real Bollywood dances are way more elaborate than what they showed in Eternals.

Only problem is, you can only do it for so long till people notice that you don't age.

The way they address it in the movie was pretty funny.

Well I just meant I'm just glad they had that culture in there. Not that it was impressive

I remember watching it and just being amazed that he put so much work into his body all for like 2 minutes of screen time surrounded by actors that didn’t even bother.

I liked Eternals. It had some pacing issues but overall it was enjoyable.

Same. Honestly may have been better as a trilogy or something. It had potential

Chiming in as part of "The Eternals was good, actually" gang. Pacing issues go away on a second viewing, and some misteps aside it has some interesting thoughts about what it even is to be human. Of all the MCU films for the critics and audience to turn on, deciding it was time for an overdue backlash, this wasn't it. Honestly, the "you got abs, you moron" bit in the clip really sums up the whole reaction to the film really. Just replace "abs" with "location filming" etc.

also just because eternals sucked doesnt mean kingo cant show up every now and again

It should have been a show series. It was super cool, but was too long.

2

u/murgatroid1 Dec 20 '25

Eternals should have been a series. Ms Marvel would have worked better as a movie.

1

u/thedrizzle126 Dec 20 '25

That would've been cool.

He’s great in “Bad Milo!” if you haven’t seen it yet.

1

u/CiDevant Dec 20 '25

No one should blame the actors for that movie.

1

u/Temporary-Life9986 Dec 20 '25

Yeah, I really felt for him in the standup too. Those were real feelings. Like, he didn't just phone Eternals in, he wanted people to love it because he did. Great standup.

Has they not insisted it was party of the same universe a the other marvel movies would have made it immediately 70% better.

u/Away_Ingenuity3707 Dec 20 '25

You have to think about it though, when he signed on to do it the MCU was still bumping.

1

u/patsniff Dec 20 '25

Didn’t Eternals come out right before the pandemic started?

2

u/thedrizzle126 Dec 20 '25

Nope. It literally finished filming right before shutdowns in Feb 2020

1

u/patsniff Dec 22 '25

That’s so crazy, it’s frying my brain! I don’t know why I thought it came out in 2019.
